I did a thing!

So the wind had killed our gate and a portion of our fencing as well so I got my uncle to come out and help me get all the stuff I would need to replace it all. Saturday morning he helps me get a couple of the poles set in the concrete but then has to run since he was in charge of all three of his kids at the time and naptime was soon. He says if I ( Read more... )

I was sort of hoping that the third paragraph was going to start with "So I got out my double barreled shotgun..." in a good 'get off my lawn!' old geezer fashion. oh well.

and remember, barbed wire doesn't deter zombies!

No but neighborhood kids make good distractions; while they are running around it will give me time to board up a bit!

I have the best hubby ever! You did such an awesome job on the gate, and now the neighborhood kids will stay out of our yard! I can even put our saw in the shed eventually :-)

Sorry I couldn't come up to help. I had to help build a set for Rae's play. I did a really good job missing the board beneath the skin of the flats with about every 3rd screw! Yay, EXTRA HOLES! SPEED HOLES!!!

Anyway, other than that, I've been wrenching on my bike. Adding a rear-rack tonight, cause riding with a backpack to school yesterday sucked. My back sweated buckets, and lower back got sore because of it.

Haha, it's not a problem. The work wasn't that bad really, I just needed someone to hold things in place for a bit which Laura was able to do. I managed to avoid speed holes in the gate which is another impressive feat!

That's neat with the bike, the rack is probably a good idea. Biking is enough exercise without adding having a backpack in the mix =p

Awesome! Man I can understand kids being curious about stuff and needing to be outside and play but to be so flat out disrespectful of other peoples property, I just wonder what the parents are teaching the kids. I don't know that I would have held my temper so good for you. I think I would have probably got the kid(s) and asked where he/they lived dragged 'em home by the arm and talked to the parents to try to keep the little brats out of my yard.
