I had a strange comment on A03 today, on an old Mentalist fic - a very porny one. The person said it was well written but creepy, because some of the sex basically showed I was a woman under the evil patriarchal influence of mainstream porn. I am perhaps reading between the lines a little bit - but not that much

re: odd comments - I sometimes wonder what the hell people think they're saying when they leave comments like that. I mean, very occasionally I've gotten outright nasty comments (especially if there's less than vanilla sex) but then there are the ones that are so passive-aggressive I just have to laugh.

Also, I am NOT re-reading (or reading any of the new ones) ASOIAF until he's damn well finished, but the boys are all in a frenzy of rewatching in prep for S3 so I'm slowly getting caught up, but it's all in jumbled bits and pieces.

It really took me aback, because you just don't tend to see that sort of thing in the few corners of fandom I haunt - but either this person had difficulty with anything even slightly kinky, or The Mentalist fandom is really straight-laced. Dunno. Hope they don't read any of my other stories in the fandom - I think I have one involving hypnosis.

I figure I'll keep keeping on with GoT in this piecemeal fashion, and leave it at that. But yeah, unless the last few books get stellar raves I'm not going to bother picking any of them up. I stopped at three and I'm fine with that.
