Energy and crystals: quartz, citrine, amethyst, tiger's eye
With my improved understanding of energy forms and emotions, I can start to understand what different crystals do as they transform or emit energies.
Quartz -- quartz and quartzite crystals basically absorb and transmit energy. The patterning of fractures and crystal planes within determines in what pattern they best operate, and what energy they best transmit. Most clear quartzes easily collect sunlight or moonlight, distributing that without the harmful energies, since quartz has a planar crystalline structure that polarizes light and always filters out frequencies like ultraviolet A (or sections of it, rather).
Citrine -- Citrines do one job very well: they transform hatred into peace. Since most issues people face in terms of self-image, body image, and personal advancement are based in hatred and shame, this is why citrines are exactly the stone to give someone who has these issues. This also explains why citrine doesn't work as hard for people who are already happy and comfortable with who and what they are, particularly if they're already activated and working their life plan. Note: Citrine is said to never need clearing/cleansing. This is not entirely true, as other destructive energies can build up; however, citrine's care primarily involves rest, rather than regular cleansing, as the stone will clear itself over time. The gold color of citrine resonates with Divine protection energies, and this makes it an ideal stone to receive holy blessings, but they will break down over time as the stone simply clears those energies away!
Amethyst -- Amethyst is easy enough: they're basically a chemical fuel cell for spiritual energies. As the colorant breaks down, amethyst emits energy. As energy is infused into it in the correct frequencies, the colorant builds itself back up. If you use the wrong energies (like ultraviolet light), the colorant breaks down, but doesn't emit as much healthy energy. Due to the intense violet color of amethyst, it resonates with the upper part of the third eye chakra as well as the crown, helping insight energies to flow.
Tiger's Eye -- Tiger's eye transforms doubt into determination. Thus it becomes the stone of action (tigers in dreams mean action too, by the way), and transforms stagnant life into active motion. On top of that, it strengthens the resolve and helps people speak their truths, whatever truth they hold.
As I gain experience or insight into more crystals and stones, I'll be recording them over time. This whole thing is looking like it's going to turn into a mighty volume of energy lore and crystalmancy...
