Gintoki didn't mean to fall asleep in the forest, really. But yesterday's training had really taken a lot out of him; although in the end, he'd managed to increase his mask timing to a well-round three and a half minutes. Another three second increase. Small as it may be, it was still progress.

The silver-haired freelancer groaned as he got up from the ground, shaking his head to get rid of the loose grass and earth in his perm. That wasn't nice at all, seesh... at least it didn't rain or anything last night. The sun still hadn't really risen from the looks of it, so the man only sighed, leaned back against the tree he had been sleeping under (one growing bread, oddly) and closed his eyes for a quiet doze before he'd start training again, he supposed.

There was small consolation in the fact that he could still move silently, Susumu found, when he heard the very human groan. Making his way swiftly and cautiously towards the sound, he paused and frowned to himself. Approaching like this probably wasn't the best idea, especially when he still wasn't sure whether the damn tail would give him away or not. But the trees had sturdy enough branches low, and the foliage should keep him hidden while he found out who was there...

For once, the samurai was sort of thankful that he had been given these wolf senses. Usually they only served to irritate him more than they shouldn't, especially with his inner hollow rambling like a lunatic in his head (then again, it was a lunatic). But now, as he dozed, his ears and own tufted tail perked up as an unfamiliar scent same into his senses. Not Hijikata, not Zura, not Okita... nobody his brain registered. Part of his mind started to stir, angry for having his territory trespassed upon, but the silver-haired freelancer quickly pushed aside that thought.

Gintoki turned towards the direction of the spy, dead fish eyes on as he spoke in his usual deadbeat tone, "Yo," he greeted, one hand raised in a weak wave, "You might want to come down from that tree. There's a beehive near you."

Damnit! Mentally cursing himself for being careless, Susumu dropped lightly from the branch and stood a cautious distance from the other man, ready to flee at any moment. But, while he was furious at himself for being caught (again), he was also curious as to what had given him away.

"How did you know I was there?"
