[lj, dw, admin] Greetings from DW
I'm kinda-sorta imported into DW. I have about a zillion decisions yet to make and problems to solve.
Things I have yet to figure out how to backup and/or fix:
1) Images (Scrapbook)
2) Audio (Phone posts)
3) Inbox (contents on LJ)
4) Inbox (behavior on DW)
5) Friending (Circling) friends on DW and adding them to the appropriate filters
If you have any suggestions about how to do these things, please speak up. I had things to do tomorrow that didn't involve wget. Also, if anybody has opinions about where else to host images, since DW basically doesn't do that, I'm keen to hear them. Also hosting of sound files.
I am also going to figure some things out and make some decisions about how I want to handle posting. Till now, my method for posting to LJ was post-via-email, and I'm not keen to give that up, because it means I can write my posts in emacs and manage them on my server in my own draft-management system. Not really willing to give that up. But post-via-email to DW with the crossposter seems to require that I store my LJ password in DW to work (not unreasonably[*]), making the security hole not temporary but permanent.
I also am going to have to exercise the crossposter and see how it behaves in various situations.
Also, I am willing to pay a designer money to make me a custom skin for my DW account, because my life is not at this moment compatible with my doing CSS for myself and I find reading DW unpleasant enough to be aversive. If you know/are people who do that sort of thing, let me know and point me at a portfolio or other examples of your work.
ETA: Also, profile, but meh. (Let's see how the crossposter handles edits!)
[* An alternative I would prefer there be some sort of queue of crossposting posts, and if you don't store the password on DW, they accumulate there and wait patiently for you to log into DW and provide the password so they can then be crossposted.]

ETA2: Oh, while I was checking the importation of my coding journal, I noted in passing I had posted some years back about LJ having an undocumented getinbox method. Does that still work, anybody know? Does DW know about that?
ETA3: Oh, and does anybody know: when you crosspost, does DW send the password in the clear? I know LJ isn't great at supporting HTTPS, so I'm worried they necessarily are. I'd like to know what's happening to my password.
ETA4: Does anybody know how to get DW to email me the technical notices that show up in the DW Inbox? I want absolutely everything sent to my Inbox to forward to my email. Is that possible?
