We argued it out, painfully. She was trying to get me to forget her, drawing on every bullshit excuse she could. Saying things like "I'm not worthy of your love" and "I can't have children". I told her my beliefs in each area she tried, and kept reasserting the fact that I loved her.
I thought all had been somewhat quelled when we went to sleep.
When I woke up, I found the note.
I found her belongings missing.
...and I could feel a lingering warmth on my cheek.
That was how I knew...I..I knew she was gone.
