Well, hethatishere has been hassling me about never updating, so I figured it was about time, and I actually have some good news too!

Memorial day weekend was pretty great. I got to see my fantastic boyfriend oldstancher perform live on stage at the fabulous Williamston Theatre, and he was great. On Monday my folks had a bbq and Beth made ribs in the smoker, which were as delish as ever.

The last couple weeks have been pretty stressful, but for a really good reason- I've got a new job! I've got at least one new job.

See, for a couple of weeks now I've been going through the process of getting my summer job- I'm going to be driving the short bus. No, that's not a crude metaphor, I'm actually going to be driving a short bus! I'm going to be an assistant at a Japanese language preschool in the area for their summer camp, and I'll be driving the tinybus (only 4 rows of seats) to a stop in Ann Arbor and another one in Canton to pick up kiddies and take them to camp every day. It seems like it is going to be a ton of fun, but working with kids (rightly) entails a lot of paperwork. It involves making quite a few phone calls and visiting several government offices, and going to a doctor for a full physical and a TB test, and since I'll be driving the tinybus I needed a chauffeur's license too. The chauffeur's license is way easier to get than a full commercial driver's license, but it does involve yet more paperwork, and trips to still other government offices.

The whole thing was so intimidating that I've been seeing this job more as a possible eventuality in the distant future than as a reality, but in fact today I took all the paperwork up to the school, and did my first practice drive on the tinybus. Now I have the job for real and I can just kick back and relax for a few weeks!

I also had another stressor that I dispatched today- an interview for another job! It doesn't look to be a terribly thrilling job, a lot of the same sort of boring office chores I do now, but it's with a branch office of a Japanese company, so I'd be using my language skills. It's a very small office- just three other people, but they seem cool and funny, and I need a new job. Even if my job wasn't ending I'd need a new job, because the situation sucks at my current one, even if it is the easiest job ever. So we'll see if they want to hire me, but either way I survived my first real, scary-type interview and I didn't do too badly.

The other good/bad news is that Jesse already got asked back to Williamston, not as an understudy but in his own right. It's really exciting, and he is thrilled because he loves being there, but it means we aren't going to make it to the wedding of some dear friends. We are both really bummed about that bit. I was so excited to see everyone. But there it is, and it means that the money we've been trying to keep in our savings account to pay for plane tickets and a hotel is now actually savings, which is pretty nice.

So, all my labors being finished, I intend to kick back and breath free this weekend. I need a ヤスミ but serious ^_~ Jes and I are talking about heading down to Cleveland to see the Tigers play the Indians this weekend. Heck, since we're now slightly flush maybe we'll even go to Cedar Point, who knows. The weekend is wiiiide open.
