Summary: One night in a bar gives Yamapi an epiphany.
It really was supposed to be a small drink with some of the studio people after their last recording. What it really turned into was him sitting at the counter, swishing around a full glass of he didn't even remember what.
Going solo wasn't all he thought it would be. Sure, he'd knew it was going to be lonely, but it was uncanny the reality of it. That he couldn't even call up one of them because they were busy. Not 'I'm avoiding you ,so I'm lying' busy, they were legitimately busy. Photoshoots, interviews, variety shows, radio, dance rehearsal, voice lessons, concert preparations - he forgot how much they had to do in a single day.
And then, of course, there was the 'I'm avoiding you, so I'm lying' busy. Especially from Koyama.
Yamapi expected Kei-chan the least and the most for avoiding him. He'd hurt the guy deeply when he didn't tell him individually of his decision, but he really thought it would be the best thing to do. To tell everyone together, so nobody had to keep this a secret, had to wait for this bomb to explode.
Still, he could remember the first words to leave his lips. “Is this another prank?”
He raised his glass, just letting his hand hang somewhere in the air. A toast, sort of, to Shigeki's amazing psychic skills.
“Celebrating something, Yamapi?” It was a weird voice that spoke and it surprised him so much he jumped and it was a weird person sitting next to him.
“Jae-kun!” Jaejoong smiled at him and clinked his glass together with Yamapi's and took a long sip. “What are you doing here? When did you get into Japan? Where have you been? How are you?”
“Waiting for a stranger to come by and sweep me off my feet. Here for a concert. Korea. I'm good, and you? Now, are we going to have an actual conversation or are you just going to rattle off a list of questions like an interviewer?” Jaejoong gave him a smirk and gestured to Yamapi's glass. “You thinking of drinking that or are you just going to let it freeze your hand?”
Yamapi rolled his eyes and took a big swig - almost half the drink in one. “I haven't heard from you in a while - excuse me if I'm a little surprised.”
“Point taken.” They sat in silence for just a little bit and Jaejoong sparked up again. “Well, you seem to be doing well for a new solo artist.”
Yamapi scoffed. “Yeah, I'm doing great.” He took another gulp.
Jaejoong gave genuine bit of laughter. “Lonely, ain't it? Waking up and not seeing the same people everyday.”
His glass hit the counter and he was starring into it, just nodding along. “Probably never will - if there's any say from any of them.”
Jaejoong looked at his friend with a sad smile. He wrapped an arm around his shoulders and squeezed Yamapi in comfort. “Well, if you try hard, who knows? Maybe one day - ”
“Jae!”
Jaejoong turned around and his whole demeanor turned around. “Yunho!” He hopped out the chair and hugged a man not that much taller than him tight. They stood in the middle of the bar without a care for who saw them or who cared if they cared that they didn't care. Yamapi watched and that's when he realized it - this was Yunho. The Yunho of Jae's ex-group. The Yunho Jae was head over heels in love with.
The Yunho that, apparently, Jaejoong was still with.
“How are you, babe? It 's been forever since I saw you. You keep hiding from me.” Jaejoong was laughing and as they walked back to the counter, Yunho kissed his cheek.
“I have not! You keep taking drama roles.” And for a moment, Jaejoong was pouting. Suddenly he was animated and talking with his hands with a bright expression. “Oh my god, Yunnie, so much has happened! Like, like, did you see the kiss performance Su put on for Elizabeth? Oh my god, Yoochun was SO pissed about that!”
“Are you kidding me? Of course he is! Changmin almost couldn't walk after watching that!”
“You went to see it?”
“Of course I did! What sort of leader would I be if I didn't?”
They talked like they were a normal couple, meeting up on a weekend. Like there was no separation at all between them. Even when they'd been miles apart from each other.
“Oh, Yamapi, I'm sorry. Uh, Yunho, this is my friend Yamashita.”
“Nice to -”
“Hello. It's nice to meet you. Now excuse me, but I have to go do something.” Yamapi turned back to his drink and downed the rest of it, regardless of how much it burned his throat. He stripped his jacket off the seat and bolted out the door.
Koyama had gotten back at midnight and was really looking forward to going to sleep after his warm shower an hour later when the harsh knocking started. It really couldn't be anyone important, so he threw on a pair of pajama bottoms and trudged to the door.
“Yes, can I -”
Imagine his surprise when he got a face full of Yamapi kissing him.
Yamapi backed him up, up, and up until they Koyama had tripped over the genkan and they fell together. The kiss ended there, of course, and so they just stared at each other until Koyama had uttered one word. “Yamapi...”
“I'm not giving up on us, Kei-chan. I may be a hundred miles away or you might be, but until you say 'No,' I don't want 'us' to end.”
Koyama blinked over and over, “Do you really mean that?”
Yamapi laughed. Kei-chan's voice could be so small at times. “Nn, I really mean it.” He passed a hand through Koyama's bangs, “I love you, Kei-chan.”
Koyama wrapped his arms around Yamapi and pulled him down to swallow any other touching words he had in a kiss.
