Dimming Jewel Ch. 22

Summary: The love and loyalty of one member is about to be tested.
It was a day of no cameras, no fans, no outsiders. Super Junior's dance rehearsal - where everybody knew how tired everybody else was.
Leeteuk stood at the back, watching over his boys like a worried mother. Little did he know that Kyuhyun and Heechul watched him like a hawk.
The door opened and jammed so nobody would slip inside. “Come on guys, we've got to start.” Leeteuk ordered with a lazy clap. The members looked at each other, deciding after a long while to obey. The last to step in, Leeteuk finally understood their hesitance.
Hyukjae stood, looking at him as awkwardly as they looked at him. “Eunhyuk-ah?” The boy fidgeted and Leeteuk reprimanded himself within. “Hyukjae-shi...what are you doing here?”
“I...the word is that our dance is pretty cool. Unique. I want to see it.” His eyes turned on Leeteuk and would not let go. “This doesn't mean I'm coming back. I just...I want to see it.”
The maknaes looked at him and Heechul was about to speak for him when Leeteuk answered with maybe a hint of the first smile in a while. “Alright. Come on guys.” And he walked over to the stereo system.
They hadn't performed for the longest time and they all noticed the hole that Hyukjae left. They all felt his eyes criticize them and Heechul felt a little bit insulted. Hyukjae looked as if he hated the dance - and he was the one who made it up!
It ended and Leeteuk looked apprehensive - as if he was waiting for approval. “What did you think?” He had to breathe slowly, deeply, to not sound as nervous as he felt.
“How often do you dance that?”
They looked at each other and multiple answers come out. “4, 5 times a day?” Hyukjae made a face. “Wow. I give respect for you - doing that so much every day.”
“How about you try it?” They all turned to Heechul. “We've saved a spot for you, if you want it.” Super Junior all felt a warmth that the sentence. Hyukjae was quiet when he walked to the spot Heechul pointed to.
His eyes closed in on the diva. “You..you've said this before, haven't you?”
Heechul laughed, “Just dance, Hyukkie.” He ordered.
Hyukjae fell behind, but he caught onto it quickly and it was almost as if it was just a normal off-day.
Leeteuk watched him and he could only begin to hope. Maybe Hyukjae could come back and he wouldn't have to find someone else for KTR. Maybe Han Geng wouldn't leave. Maybe they could all...be...that headache was coming back. He stopped for only a moment, just to calm himself. But it only pounded harder and harder. His balance faltered and his legs just went out from under him.
“Leeteuk-ah!” Kangin was by his side in a moment, and everyone crowded around him. “Leeteukkie, are you okay?”
On bated breath, they waited and waited for Leeteuk to open his eyes. Kangin groaned, “God, are you looking to scare us out of our minds?” He signaled over for Siwon to help him lift the leader out the room.
Leeteuk shook his head. “Eun...Eunhyuk-ah...” he whispered.
Hyukjae shook his head. “Forget about me, hyung. You need to rest.”
“Eunhyuk-ah...” Leeteuk wanted to say more, but Kangin and Siwon were already dragging him out the door. Nobody knew what do, what to say, until Hyukjae fell against Donghae.
He looked over the script. They were looking to start their own radio show, him and Leeteuk. Who knew how successful this could be! He just needed to talk to Leeteuk and...Kiss the Radio would be born. Well, he hoped Leeteuk liked the name.
Just about to knock on the door, he heard voices.
“Teukie, you need to relax.” Kangin's voice was harsh.
“I can't...Eunhyuk-ah...we're supposed to...” He heard the heavy breathing voice interrupted by heavy coughing.
“Forget about Eunhyukkie - you need to rest!” Kangin snapped.
“But...I promised him...”
He barged in, taking Leeteuk's side. “Hyung, you should rest. We still have a few weeks before the first airing. We have plenty of time to plan.”
Leeteuk's eyes were sad with guilt. “I'm sorry Eunhyukkie.”
He just smiled back. “It's okay, hyung.”
“Hyuk-ah? Hyukkie!” Donghae was shaking him, concern in his eyes.
“What? What's going on?” He looked around.
“Did you remember something?” Kyuhyun asked. And suddenly everyone's eyes were on him.
Hyukjae furrowed his eyes. “We were...preparing. The first show. Leeteuk got sick. I told him he should rest. He felt...sad that he couldn't work with me. Like he promised.”
“We tried to tell you - we're not bad people.” Heechul spoke in sarcasm and 'I told you so' isms.
Hyukjae wouldn't look at any of them. “I have to go.” He stood, nearly running out of the door. Super Junior looked at each other and all around - where did they all stand now?
