This is the word count post for the totally, completely random and absolutely crazy NaNo side-project I've started. I've had this original 'verse in the works for a while, and figured I might as well get started on it, so I'm essentially doing a double NaNo: writing Foreshadowing of Fate as my official NaNo project, but also trying for the same word count stats on this fic.
More info on the fic to come!
The basic gist of the plot is that there's a team of six teenagers living in a fantasy world secret from the normal one, rather like Harry Potter. People do use magic in the world. However, the overwhelming majority of the people in the side-world have a mastery of an Element. Six elements exist - Water, Fire, Earth, Metal, Wood, and Air. Air is regarded as being inferior to the other Elements, magic-users are inferior to any of the Elemental users, and those who only have telepathy and empathy are inferior to the magic-users. More to come because it's just past midnight and I'm lazy like that.

I have encountered what some would term fail. It is really best described as
*Epic Author Fail In A Box With A Side Order Of Fail*. Point the first: I forgot to insert a major character into a battle scene, and had to retcon her in as a semi-conscious party.
Point the second: The story ran away with on me, and now I have to deal with getting the plot moving while my main character is blind and at quarter-strength.
Point the third: I forgot that the main character was blind, and wrote a passage in which she could see.
Point the forth: I confused the name of my main character with another character. And, in one case, misspelled that name.
. . . I need a new icon for this sort of situation.
11/3/2010: 811 words - writing fail today
I wrote 329 words of an unrelated Inception AU that latched on and refused to let go too.
11/4/2010: 1805 words
Still 586 words behind where I should be. I'll catch up once I finish the TF fic for today.
11/13/2010: Belated update. Now several thousand words behind where I should be, but fic progress rarely ends up precisely linear. Total word count for today 3917; total fic word count 13,461 words. Scenes finished include the interrupted training, thought-sharing spell, preparing for a mission, and most of the actual mission. Probably going to be expanding that part eventually.
ETA: Over the one-quarter written mark! WOOT! Also, the 'joyful' picture the widget was going to display looked rather like shock to me, so I went with the 'working' picture.
