I've had the flu before, and this ain't it.
For the last seven days I've been coughing my lungs up. I've had coughing fits before, where the cough hurts your entire throat and chest. But this one isn't like that. When I cough, I feel as if my lungs are being crushed.
I went to work on Friday, and I continued to cough up a storm. The entire day, I tried to stay away from my coworkers, and not get too close. Sure enough, Saturday rolled around and the entire office had coughing fits. No one blamed me, but I could see the hatred in their eyes.
"Hey, Hugo. How are you feeling?"
But really, they meant to say, "Hey, Hugo. Are you feeling any better, now that your virus has infected the rest of us? Since you decided to be the outbreak monkey, you're ruined all of our weekends! If we had it our way, you'd be burned to the crisp with the flames of a thousand suns."
It's okay. That's what the mother fuckers get for giving me a 13¢ raise.
