The Pegasus Project - Spoilers!

Yes, I'll cut this to protect those who haven't seen the SG-1 ep, "The Pegasus Project". Please understand that there *will* be spoilers in the comments.

Oh. My. God. I really didn't think it would be possible for TPTB to acknowledge *all* of the possible 'ships in one ep, but they did. Not that this ep was all about the UST. It wasn't. But it still acknowledged the relationships between the characters.

First of all, the shoulder-bump between Daniel and Sam at the beginning. For me, and a few others, this was acknowledgment of the Daniel/Sam dynamic. However you want to 'read' that. If you want to see romance, it's there. If you want to only read companionship and history between them, yeah, that's there too. All in how you want to read that scene. Always a winner, in my book.

Granted, if you were hoping for a big Sam/Vala scene? It wasn't there, explicitly. But I felt at respect between them that wasn't in the least bit grudging. Sam freely told Daniel, "Vala isn't wrong," which I saw as a nice bit of acknowledgement.

Daniel was just so... Daniel, despite Vala's presence. Which feels really good to me. The dynamic between them has changed, subtlely and I welcome it. If Vala is going to be a recurring/regular character, then the sexual dynamic between Vala and Daniel needs to be dialed waaaay back. I think it's been done nicely. She's still there, still irreverent, but... the sexual context has been backed off. She still needles him, she's even occasionally right! But she doesn't gloat. She's actually worried about the fate of the Ancient who spoke to them. Very nice. And actually, at this point I can believe that Daniel and Vala just *might* have been intimate at some point. Vala, despite all her earlier bluster, really isn't the type to be vindictive about it. She's just now getting the big picture on who Daniel is. And this gives *us* a wider perception of him. Very welcome.

The Cam/Sam dynamic was very alive and kicking, too. Cam values Sam. He realizes that she's perfectly capable of takig care of herself, but why should she twist in the wind with McKay? Hence the whole lemon thing... I like how he steps in at some points, but lets Sam fight her own battles at others... respectful of her rank and standing, but a gentleman at heart. And Sam understands that! Very cool.

Basically, I think this is one of the best eps in a long, long time. I'm very happy... must sleep now....

sga, sg-1
