The sand on the beach looked almost silver in the moonlight. The light made his lover's skin glow as they lay side by side on the blanket listening to the crash of the waves on the shore. England lay on his side, propped up on one elbow, just watching America. The younger man had closed his eyes and was just listening. England wasn't sure if he was even still awake he looked so peaceful. The sea breeze blew across his hair, making that errant lock of hair drift back and forth making England want to wrap his fingers around it and tease him. He reached out with his other hand, letting it play with his hair the way the wind did.
America's eyes blinked open at the touch and he smiled at him. England felt a smile spread on his face unbidden, the emotion appearing in a split second. There was no need for his stiff upper lip now, not when it was just them together. He leaned over and pressed his lips against the edge of the smile he loved so much. America shifted and pressed their mouths completely together. England let himself get lost in that kiss, wishing the moment could last forever.
