Summary: America invited Canada on a road trip at the very end of summer.
“C’mon Mattie! It’s the last big weekend for roadtripping before school really gets going again!”
“Shouldn’t that be all the more reason to avoid traveling? We can take time off later.” Canada pointedly avoided looking at him, he knew that if he looked now all hope to spend the holiday weekend at home would be dashed. He held out for all of thirty seconds before he risked a look. Damn those cute pleading eyes.
He sighed, “Alright, Al.” He ignored the victory fist pump.
“This is gonna be awesome Mattie! Just you, me and the open road!” America grinned widely.

Canada sighed, leave it to America to decide a road trip on Labor Day weekend as a last hurrah before school season was a good plan. He rode along watching the simple countryside morph from city to wilderness to country to city again. It was peaceful, he supposed, even if the soundtrack to this trip was the warbling of a bluegrass band over the car radio. Kumajiro sat in the back munching on some snacks. It was comfortable, and it became even more so as America’s hand fell into his. He slid his fingers against the other’s, enjoying the feeling.

America applauded himself about his suggestion of a road trip, especially since it got Canada into his car where he could just reach over and touch him. He was really excited to take in the last few days of summer with the other, share in the excitement of that last vacation before thoughts turned back to school and work. He drove along, trying not to curse too much in his head at the other drivers.
“Thanks for coming.” he said, glancing sidelong at his passenger. He felt warmth stir in his heart as Canada smiled back at him.
“No problem.”
