I was reading the Sacramento Bee today and two articles were very disturbing.
1)the Garrison case where he kidnapped a 11 year old girl in 1991, raped her, and raised her and their two kids in a tent located in the backyard. Well, apparently, he was already convicted of kidnapping and rape before and got a 50 year sentence in jail, but got out only after serving 11 years. The article interviewed the first woman who was kidnapped and raped by Garrison when she gave him a ride near Lake Tahoe. Garrison was said to say that he was "compelled and driven" to do such terrible deeds and "could not stop himself". Its disturbing how a a twisted mind can think.
2)A year ago, a 90 year old woman was beaten to death at her home by her own cane. The person who confessed to the deed now says that it wasn't him but his half brother. They first met the lady when they solicited offering to mow her lawn. Afterwards, they planned to burgalrize the place, but felt a pang of conscience since the lady was so nice. In the end, someone committed the deed. I thought that this is such a dark side of human nature. To take advantage of a harmless old lady, and end up killing her in such a brutal way.. .
In the Discover magazine, there was an article that scientists are researching eye droplets that can help you see better in the dark! I neeed this one . err.. I wear glasses already, and my night vision isn't that great.. There is this portion of the I-80 east near Vallejo that is very dark and all of the sudden, the lines are very very faint!! There, I am gripping the steering wheel for life, hoping that a car would drive in front of me so I can "borrow" their light!
OTOH, my co-worker declared today that we will go to the State Fair on FRIDAY. "I'm going to write that you are taking your furlough on the board!" she said as I was going, "huhh?!" Hmm.. . the first 5000 people will get to ride the rides from Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch for freee! Please let the weather cool down lots on Friday!!! It is so hot today! :O
Other than that, work has been annoying me a whole lot lately. I'm helping a person doing some work, but that person doesn't put much effort to keep up! I was boiling inside when she said,"If you can help, that will be great".. because she seems to waste so much time chatting, socializing, using internet, and even watching youtube .. sometimes it takes her a few days to finish what I can do in one day! I'm not a very fast worker either! :( Why help someone who doesn't try herself? In the end, who will do more work.. since I have my own work, but when I have some free time, I try to help her out. sigh.. I know we have two furlough days, and now a total of 20% pay cut... but still. . .
