Yep, I got a ride with a Bulgarian trucker from Brandon to Calgary yesterday- never expected travelling with a Bulgarian boy to be so useful! He was stuck chatting for 12 hours while I slept in the back :)
Backtracking: we spent a night sleeping in a prarie field- an essential part of hitching across the country. Now I have strange bumps all over my body :/
Backtracking: Stayed with Joan for a week in Winnipeg- it was so sweet to see my gal :)
Backtracking: The Winnipeg Folk Festival gets worse every year. The music is always awesome-
Tagaq blew everyone away- but the vibe has changed. The campground gets a little more like a jock kegger party every year. I miss the days of shifty strangers hauling coolers of drugs like Hunter S and supplying you with (almost) anything. I miss the community bonding- not all small talk, and not just stupid drunken hooting. But sitting in gypsy teepees drinking mushroom tea and receiving random foot massages. On the full side of the glass, I did meet a nice cult that tried to recruit me. Boyan and I might spend some time at their farm in Nelson, but I can't say I'm that interested in fulfilling the biblical prophecy of the twelve tribes of Isreal.
The Here and Now: hauling Boyan up some Rocky Mountains and heading further West!
