Oooooooh aaaaaah, oooooh, you set ma soul alight

I am so full of gnocchi. Mum and I made it for the first time and used 3 lbs of potatoes! I love how she humors my cooking OCD :D We made pesto and sun-dried tomato alfredo sauces to go with the gnocchi. Ngaaah. I really don't want to leave my mum's kitchen and her awesome food.

It's actually ridiculous how much I miss non-vegetarian/vegan food while I'm at school. I live in an environmental cooperative called EcoHouse, which only buys vegetarian because of our environmental principles. This year, we have multiple vegans, so when we cook dinner every night, we can't use milk, butter, eggs, honey, etc. Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, these animal-derived foods are the key flavor components of the finer foods in life. Don't get me wrong, there's great vegetarian and vegan foods that are amazingly healthy and lovely, but as a food snob, I draw the line when it comes to over-substituting vegan ingredients for traditional recipes. There's a point where you're doing a disservice to the dish. "Macaroni and cheese" made with soy milk and yeast flakes is disgusting, for example. I also made mac 'n cheese at home, even though that was an extremely unhealthy choice, hahaha. Maybe I've been eating too anti-vegan over break: lots of red meat, cheese, real white sauces, and BUTTER BUTTER BUTTER. But, in 5 days, I will return to eating rabbit food and soy protein until May D: The bright side is I will probably lose some weight at school.

I think I should probably lose at least 10 lbs. This is by no means a New Year's resolution (I never keep them anyway). I've been working out an hour each day with my mum, doing the workout shows on a fitness TV channel. They're so fun, sometimes we go for 2.5 hours! Hopefully I can find time to do this at school. So far I love it, let's hope I can continue. I'm bringing my new yoga mat and some pilates dvds, and planning on biking at the gym. Must stay focused, raaaah!

I actually wanted to share some design stuff today. Smashing Magazine has a great mish-mash of graphics and web-design tools, tutorials, and inspiration and never fails to melt my brain. For example, check out a page featuring amazing blog layouts that totally makes me want a new journal layout! Time to go hunting

Here's a list of HTML symbols such as ♥, ☃, etc. (saw stonyglenrider using the arrows on the flist! someone's ahead of the game!).

A list of horizontal-navigating websites leads to these beautiful layouts: one, two, and three!

Lastly, here's a cutie called LoveBento where you can make little anti-collages of things you love :D

owca's Christmas card she sent me was used as a grocery list by a member of my family D: I saved it from further doom. I loved it, Bea! And it's safe now!!

Watched a bit of Season 6 of House, and it made no sense. What the hell happened since Season 3, lol. • Finished Shoebox for the fifth time! I love them. • My muscles are sore. I never thought I would be addicted to pain like this! Yes! • I kind of want to do mission101. Has anyone made a list yet? I would like ideas :)
