Today was a great day. M and I slept late. We took our red 1990 Toyota Corolla to Mark's shop. We drove to Shali and had the buffet and I had two cups of masala tea. Chicken curry, baingan aloo (hey-if it makes aloo feel better...), saag, daal, gobi pakoras... we made it to the car and then drove to Bernheim forest. M picked up his paintings. Saw some blue-jays, limestone sculptures, and on the way there of course the big corncob propane tank. It was cold outside, sunny, low barometric. Pressure.
Drove home at one point, stopped at a hardware store first. Bought glue. Oh, and "party" lights and paint stripper. I was with my favorite person in the whole fucking world so I didn't care what we did.
At home we took off on foot. M was discouraged by the temperature but I persuaded. It was a beautiful, nice long walk and we did see one cat on Morton. This was approximately when we decided we were going to walk to Ear X-tacy and spend some money. And that I did. I cringed at the bill but goddamit, there's only so many times I can listen to the soundtrack to Morvern Callar, which may actually have been the last CD I have purchased. Bought some Ulrich Schnauss, more Can, more Broadcast, more Mahler (2nd symph), and Sonic Youth. I realize it's silly to purchase a recording in multiple formats but it's my winter tradition to listen to Daydream Nation and we don't quite know when another record player will appear.
M and I are now baking a green bean casserole and listening to Total Trash... Gosh Shane, you were so right. Tender Buttons is really lovely.
I'm downing a glass of red, Penfold's. Today has been nothing but good.
