.... well ....
It was fun eating garlic cheesebread with so many Whole Fooders. It was great that Shannon Ott came in. She was engaging, and knows so much about dogs and the real reasons that they urinate gratuitously. Seeing Sean and Jon was priceless because I feel that they probably will not venture out with co-workers again for awhile.
M. Killmeier was enjoying himself. He was telling me about a magic show that he went to, at the Bearno's, many years ago with his brother. I heard him describing this "Squirrely's Magic Show" before but I never knew it took place in the same building. He told me he'd find the second floor staircase before we left and show me the theater.
Then, I decided to go to the bathroom. Jill, Lori's daughter, came with me. She wanted to show me that the bathroom "growled". I had no idea what she was talking about. But she was right. I began the stand-up, and I heard this distinctly feline noise emanate from the toilet. It sounded like a muffled mating call. For some reason this completely turned the rest of the night upside-down. Something happened to my reasoning. I could hear Jill laughing on the other side of the stall door. I washed my hands and ran out of the bathroom giggling with her.
When I got back to the table Lori and Marie wanted me to sing a song that I overheard a crazy lady sing earlier at work. It had deeply disturbed me and I refused to sing it. And then I said "LET'S STOP TALKING ABOUT WHOLE FOODS CRAP" very eloquently. Nancy said "What else are we going to talk about..." and I said, on top of the night, "I dunno, strippers.?.". Way to go, Star!!
But I've noticed something. It's true that some of the coolest people EVER are people who work with me now. It's so blatantly true. Louisville's Finest just seem to be concentrated in a few areas of town, WF being one of them. It's a very fortunate thing.
But, I'm beginning to feel a little bit of cabin fever.
Something that is only my problem, so I'm sorry Lori and Marie and anyone else to whom I didn't sing (that actually wanted to hear). I just heard that cat growling in the bathroom and I realized that Bearno's will probably be it for me for a little while, that meeting co-workers after work to talk about work is something I'm doing way too much of. I've been neglecting my non-WF homies. I'm sure everyone reading this will get it. Also, I feel an increased admiration for Jon and Sean, who work with each other AND make a bed with each other before getting in the bed with each other. M lost his job, which was the best thing that's happened to him- and up until recently I was hounding him to apply at my workplace. But now I'm glad that he's not so into it. I mean, he has escaped the hell of Mercer Transportation, he should take it easy for awhile and enjoy unemployment. I'm lucky he's never worked for a grocery store, we can't talk about it.
