The Schoolteacher's Tale
It's been a strange day. My 15 minute commute to school took an hour because of an accident on H1. At least it wasn't me in the accident. I went around it on the side streets, but don't know if I got to work any sooner than I would have the other way.
When I got to work I had 2 semester exams to finish, in a hurry, since I had lost 45 minutes. I got my AP exam done, but when I went to copy it, I didn't have one of the pages and couldn't even find a copy of it until school was out. Luckily I don't have to give the exam until tomorrow. The other one, for my Test Prep class, I didn't finish writing, but figured I could finish it tonight at home and go in early to get it copied. I could have done it at school, but I had a doctor's appointment to go to. I have to go in to get checked every couple of years for prescription renewals.
Everything was fine, and my doctor didn't try to push me into doing a lot of tests I didn't want to do. I like that about him. When I left and got back to the car I couldn't find my car keys. I went back to the dr's office to look, didn't find them, went back to the car, and saw them on the seat where I guess I dropped them when I had to look for my parking ticket that fell under the seat....*&%$ When I got my cell phone out to call Dennis or someone to open the door, the battery was dead. So I went back to the dr's office AGAIN to use their phone. I was glad Dennis wasn't still at work and he could drive over from the boat to bring me his key. I paid my unnecessarily large parking fee and here I am back in my warm castle and out of the rain.
We've had a lot of rain ever since a big storm we had a couple of weeks ago. Dennis thinks it's the same storm that hit the mainland and caused all the ice. If our weather is any predictor of mainland weather, I think we're going to have a rough time going into Albuquerque on the 20th.
I'm going on vacation in 6 days!
