Not the America's cup...

Dennis left yesterday evening at 7:30 for Maui with 4 crew members while I was at school at a meeting for parents and students about the AP classes for next year. We all had to speak to a couple of hundred parents and students as a group and then to our subject area to meet people and answer questions. It was a positive experience for me. Today was the last class day for seniors and I am sorry to say I shed some tears when I said goodbye to a couple of AP students. I wish I wouldn't do that! Too emotional. But they're like my kids.

Dennis called after school today to tell me they had arrived in Maui, and with the usual "drama" or what he calls adventure. They blew out the main because it was gusting pretty bad. Then the anchor rope broke and stopped the propeller and the engine. Blake had to swim down and get the rope out of the prop. Luckily there was a knot in the rope that kept them from losing the anchor. Then they got in trouble for entering Lahaina harbor without calling ahead because Dennis was calling on the wrong station or frequency or whatever it is. They had to go through a lot of rigamarole because of security issues following 9/11.

Tonight I'm on my own and planning to go shoe shopping, but in a catalog or online, since no one around here carries my size. It's expensive to order a bunch of shoes and then send them all back. I'm just going to have to try anyway. I might go out to Waikele to the outlet mall, but it's so far. I'm too spoiled to drive far any more.
