He was bored.
Alloces being bored was generally a bad sign -- that tended to have some lives end that might not necessarily be needed, but he'd done that already been done today. Young couple, pretty girl. The guy wasn't much to look at, but the girl -- the girl had something special. Bright, shimmering red hair that was so dark it was almost the same color as her blood as it poured down from the wound he'd made in her neck. Blood itself was a little darker, but her hair -- it almost blended in completely. She'd put up quite the fight too, kicking and screaming, trying to get him to stop before he'd ripped out her jugular and left her to bleed to death.
He'd always liked redheads. They were feisty.
The boy was boring -- he died rather quickly when Alloces snapped his neck, but he never really took any pleasure in the men. They weren't what they used to be. Men didn't know how to fight anymore. In fact, women had more balls than they did half the time. And that was just disgraceful.
His leg jiggled slightly as he sat in the diner, quietly staring at the place mat in front of him. He believed he ordered some kind of coffee, but he wasn't sure how long ago that was or when it was coming. And frankly he didn't really care. This wasn't about the coffee. This was about the first time he'd been topside in more than five centuries, and he was ready to stretch his legs and see the world.
