Oscars 2008

"I never count my chickens before they're hatched," says best actor nominee Viggo Mortensen, who got the nod for his role in Eastern Promises. "Obviously, a statue would be an honor, but I'm not a huge fan of competition in art. As an actor, you just do the best job you can do. But it's nice to be recognized by one's peers." -- Chicago Sun-Times, February 2008

So happy you got recognized, hon', even if you didn't win. *sigh* LOVED the clip they chose, too, there was a great twitter all through the audience at that one. Hee!

Colin and his mum Rita. Great pic. So lovely to see Colin again...must see his new film!

Once again, the most stunning woman there is Helen Mirren. *luffs*

In other notes, James McAvoy's voice is pure honey sweet goodness. Lots of pretty dresses tonight, lots of glamor and not everyone looked the same. (Though I was just saying to philomel that I am hoping for the day where I don't periodically gasp because someone has gotten so unbelievably skinny they frighten me. Gah.) I am sick of Jack Nicholson. Why does he get front row with all the ACTUAL NOMINEES? It's ridiculous, already. Javier is yummy yummy yummy. Super kudos to Amy Adams for having to pull of a crazy whimsical song with no back-up whatsoever. Even Tom Hanks said backstage "Wow, they make her do it all by herself?"

And extra luff to the adorable, funny, awesome Jon Stewart for saying--after explaing that the Vanity Fair Oscar party had been canceled in "honor of the writers"--that Vanity Fair could better honor the writers by actually inviting them to the Vanity Fair Oscar party...lol. Go Jon!

*curls up in blanket with cup of tea* Anyone else have a nasty cold/flu bug? *sniffles*
