i had the dream last nite
I had a bad dream last nite that someone remade Aliens. It got me thinking if there are some films that are un-remakable?
Theres been alot of remakes of great films but mostly they seem to remakes of concepts like Halloween for example where its a simple concept just very well executed. Is it possible to successfully remake a film like Aliens where the dialogue scripting and characters all play such iconic parts beyond the story? Its a similar story for me with the likes of Predator or Pulp Fiction, some shoes you just cant step into and when its an ensemble of greatness then youre screwed. On the other hand ive got a deep childhood love for Carpenters The Thing (itself a remake of course) and its got some great characters but its also one of those simple concept storys that can withstand a remake better, maybe.
On that note i never knew that John Hustons The Maltese Falcon was a remake. Jeepers.
