There was a killer stare in his bloodshot eyes when he saw his girlfriend in the arms of his best friend from the window of the empty classroom.
Jun barged in, interrupting the couple from kissing. Sho looked at his scary face with a terrified expression, as if he was willing to bow down to Jun to ask for his forgiveness, but instead, he was glued to the spot, unable to react. The next thing Sho knew, his arm was torn apart and he tasted the coldness of the rock-hard floor beneath him grazing his chin.
Mao just stared at what was going on. She saw blood on Sho’s lips but she was too afraid to move. Therefore, she didn’t try to resist when Jun pulled her arm roughly and dragged her out of the gloomy classroom.
Her wrist hurt so badly; she could have sworn it was bruised. However, her voice diminished to a squeaky one whenever she wanted to scream out at Jun to stop. She tried struggling but to no avail. Jun just walked on, dragging her to god knows where.
When they finally came to a halt, she managed to shake Jun’s hand away but when she wanted to yell at Jun, she found herself coming face to face with those intense brown eyes glaring at her with a not so pleased expression. The odour of chemicals lingered in the air. She soon came to realize that they were in Chemistry Lab II, which also happened to be the place where they did their first experiment as lab partners.
Step by step, Jun approached her dangerously. Mao could feel the air tense around her. She almost couldn’t breathe. Time felt like it had stopped and it wasn’t going to continue ticking any time soon. He had his laser eyes on her, not letting his eyes leave her. Soon, his arms pressed her body against the wall, leaving his face less than an inch away from her.
“I...” was all that Mao could manage. She was prepared to face Jun’s wrath coming at her. She knew he felt like punching her.
All of a sudden, she felt her neck being grabbed at so aggressively and the next moment, she completely lost her breath. Jun bit at her delicate lips as he swarmed his mouth on hers, like hornets attacking a little boy who destroyed their nest. His fingers dug into her skin, leaving their marks on her pale skin, pressing deeper and deeper as he went. She always thought it was just a metaphor when kissing scenes were narrated about in books, but she really felt suffocated, like her oxygen supply was being cut off because Jun was tightening his grip on her throat. She tried to push Jun away but it was only draining her energy more because the harder she tried, the closer he seemed to get. Even kicking him was not working. Jun was much stronger than she thought.
As fast as it began, it stopped. She no longer felt her neck being forced upwards to meet his lips. She couldn’t feel his breath on her skin. He had stepped backwards, just staring at her. Once she was able to inhale enough air to regain her energy, her hand flew and hit his face. However, he still did not move a muscle. He continued to stare at her as if something was wrong and made him stop whatever it is that he was doing.
Mao couldn’t figure out what was going on in Jun’s head right now. One minute, he forced himself on her like that, and now he was acting so unusually. She wanted to yell at him, to question him, but the look in his eyes was just so terrifying. It was the kind of look that told you that you had messed with the wrong person.
Then, it came again. Just when Mao thought Jun was scary enough, now he was even scarier. He grabbed her wrists and slammed them on the wall behind her while pressing his face dangerously close to her. He looked into her small, brown eyes, and jammed his lips onto her own trembling lips. Her whole body was trembling and shaking while he kissed her even rougher than before. Mao wanted nothing more than for him to stop. Tears trickled down her cheek, but Jun was oblivious to her distress as he sucked harder and harder, lashing his tongue out at hers, and slamming his body hard on hers. His elbows were pressed on her arms, making it impossible for her to show any sign of protest.
All of a sudden, Mao felt the whole ordeal end. She opened her eyes to see no one in front of her. She was free to move again. But when she looked below her, she saw him crouching on his knees, face buried in his hands. He sobbed silently, and refused to look at her. She kneeled on the floor and edged closer to him, completely void of all her anger towards him. Mao wanted to let out all her anger at Jun at that moment but seeing him like that, she felt more confused than angry.
She felt herself reaching out her hands to him, hoping to take away his sadness. Her fingers pried his hands away from his face with was soaking with tears. She took his hands in hers and moved her face closer to her. However, he kept his head down, unwilling to face her. His fingers felt so fragile in hers, as if he wanted to withdraw his hands away but he lacked the strength to so. Mao squeezed his hands tightly, as if to assure him that everything was alright. Jun pulled his hands back and started to turn away from her, but she wrapped her arms around his shoulders, preventing him from leaving.
“Jun, what’s wrong?” She whispered into his ears and hugged him tighter.
Jun felt Mao’s arms around his chest and suddenly felt helpless. He didn’t move for a few moments because he felt her warmth enveloping him, which made him feel better. But he still felt uneasy deep inside.
In a flash, he turned around and embraced his girlfriend as tightly as he could. He suddenly felt grateful for her existence. He nuzzled her neck and knocked her backwards with his overflowing might.
“Jun!” He heard her gasp. He only closed his eyes and whispered the word ‘sorry’ repeatedly while rubbing his nose against her soft skin.
Mao caressed his face and stroked his hair while looking lovingly at him. She let him stay on top of her like that until he had regained his usual self and departed out of the world of depression.
Jun sat up and pulled Mao closer to him so that their eyes met. As he held her in his arms, he looked at her apologetically.
“I’m really sorry for doing that to you. It was really inappropriate of me and I owe you an apology from the depth of my heart.”
As he cast his dark eyes at Mao’s own soft, brown eyes, he saw her nod in acceptance and understanding. As if to confirm his thoughts, Mao began to bury her face in his chest, grasping the fabric of his uniform. He ran his fingers through her long, wavy hair and held her tighter.
“I’m sorry, Jun, I shouldn’t have kissed him either. I should have pushed him away.”
“Mao, it’s not your fault. I know you didn’t want to kiss him. Blame me for coming too late, and blame me for unleashing my anger towards him on you instead. I...”
Mao cut him off by moving her hands higher up his neck to tilt his head lower in order to make his lips touch hers. After a long and passionate kiss that cleared everything up, Jun reached out his hand to hers. She took it and followed him to wherever he may take her.

The both of them lay on the bed, bodies covered only with white blankets. She lay in his arms, feeling the warmth radiating from his bare skin. Nothing could describe how serene and peaceful she felt. He touched her so delicately and his touch still lingered even when they drifted off to dreamland, to carve another unforgettable memory in her soul.
Happy new year everyone!
