Comedian Tony Hawks explains that co-operation and altruism are the cornerstones of human culture, and that the greater the inequality in any society, the worse the levels of education, health, creativity and trust. Having established that doing good actually feels good, his suggestion is that we all go and rescue billionaires by democratically determining a maximum income, over which the money made must go to charity:

As he points out, governments mandate all kinds of things on the basis of the common good. Why not make it compulsory to do good with your excess cash?
