Characters: Sensei, Nekura, and RandomBadGuy
Location: Traveling
Time: Before Main ArcSensei strode across the ground, the soles of his shoes barely making a sound against the packed dirt road. His hands were in his pockets, his head tilted back to stare up at the sky and appreciate the good weather. His nose was tuned to alert him at the

Sensei reached over and ruffled Nekura's hair solely for the pleasure of seeing him further disgruntled. "Cheer up, emo kid." It was his favorite "teaching" to lecture his young student about. Also the one thing Nekura would probably never learn. He was a bright kid, and a learned fast (at least when it came to fighting), but his constant doom-and-gloom disposition kept a constant grey cloud over their travels.
Sensei glanced up at the sky suspiciously to see if Nekura had yet summoned a rainy cloud to hover over their heads. Being thus distracted, he almost would've missed the sudden danger emerging on their right-- if, of course, he had been asleep.

The presence of someone else slowly brought Nekura out of his black cloud of doom. Ice blue eyes darted about the area before settling to the right. The approaching man wasn't very subtle about approaching them and Nekura narrowed his eyes. This man had intruded on some very important dark thoughts on the world according to Nekura.

Nekura rolled his eyes at the man. He looked ridiculous and seemed quite incompetent from his short speech. Sighing, he powered up to Ev2 and charged the man. His fist sunk slightly into the man's stomach. It was almost as if the man had a hide like a...
"Oh, did I not mention that I am a Rhino..."
At this Sensei blinked, his golden eyes widening slightly. This could mean big trouble for them.
"Beetle."
Both Sensei and Nekura stared blankly at the man.

A bug?
Sensei sighed. It looked like they couldn't simply side-step this one, especially since Nekura had oh-so-enthusiastically already engaged the man. "Oh, alright." Pause. Still, it was a wonderful excuse for training. "Nekura! This looks like something you're perfectly capable of handling." He smiled, fully prepared for the child's glare.
The man-- or should he say Rhino Beetle-- bristled with indignation. "What? Do you know who I am?! You think some punk kid stands a chance against me? I'm going to take the both of you down AND take your Animal Stones--"
Sensei cleared his throat and waved his hand again, voice still polite. "I HAD asked that we could skip all that for the sake of time, didn't I?" The man obviously had a rough memory.

Suddenly, the man launched at Nekura, a pair of...wait plyers? Plyers. This -had- to be a joke of some sort. However, it was very possible that what Sensei had said had aggravated the random opponent. Nekura didn't want to be unprepared for anything this man threw at him. The beetle man didn't seem able to acheive power above level too and relied heavily on his many metal objects. It was easy enough to dodge the attacks, especially when the rhino beetle charged with his head down.

He wondered if this was what withdrawl felt like.
A clang of steel brought his attention back to the fight, and for a brief moment he entertained the idea of stepping in himself. It would certainly end things sooner. But that idea was quickly rejected-- after all, Nekura needed to train. Besides it would be too much trouble for him to power up now for a strange little man like this Rhino Beetle.
Anyway, Nekura was perfect for this fight. Even as the man launched again at Nekura with the strange steel pinchers, Sensei knew Nekura had the tougher hide.
But ah! If only he had something to occupy himself with while they wasted time. A book or something to eat would be nice

Quickly making shadow creatures a series of complicated seals, Nekura readied his first attack.

In any case, the trees were certainly no match for his power.
Sensei smirked slightly, watching Nekura launch into new shadow puppets. That attack already? Perhaps he was actually being challenged.
The Rhino Beetle didn't seem to realize his danger and instead had two sharp, pointy objects now, one in each hand. Sensei's eyes watched to make sure the man didn't actually impale his young friend, but he was fairly confident Nekura could handle this.

In one quick movement, Nekura had launched himself at the enemy, fire dancing around his fists. Avoiding the swing of the daggers, Nekura swiftly landed a blow to the other man's stomach. The rhino beetle flew back into a tree, the arsenal on his back lessening the impact. A few miscellaneous things flew from his pouch onto the surrounding area.

He might've actually done it if those two hadn't been so loud.
Cracking open one eye, Sensei surveyed the damage so far. Three trees had bitten the dust and now that Nekura was playing with fire, there was a chance the entire forest might burn down.
Sensei decided to keep his eyes open just in case he had to save what remained of the trees.

Sensei took his time smoothly rising to his feet, cocking his head curiously at the damage. He smiled at Nekura for having actually listened to one of his lectures, though he had no chance to praise the boy before the beetle coughed and fruitlessly tried to push himself up.
He seemed to be cursing.
Sensei lifted both their packs easily, hefting one over his shoulder and tossing the other to Nekura as he passed by. The two of them came to a stop a few feet away from the broken rhino beetle.
"... The hell, Kid?" He was rasping. He managed to push himself to his elbows, wincing as he did so. "You... you attacked while I was in a power up! You... you can't attack while someone's in a power-up! It's just... it's just rude ( ... )
