Siobhan (Through the Fire) - She's not sounding great, and she's missing a LOT of notes. The parts where she wasn't messing up were just boring. Didn't like it. Wow - that was a long and uncomfortable judges session, as is becoming far too common these days.
Really? We need to show them in the back room now? Go for the food Siobhan....good move!
Casey (Hold On, I'm Coming) - Love the song choice! He looks really comfortable, finally. Not sure this song has the most melody, but I'm enjoying the performance nonetheless. (LOL..that trumpet player screwed up something fierce at the end!).
This is kind of new, this element of contestants trying to give previews and pique interest for their next week's performance...
Big Mike (Ready for Love) - Never heard of this song, but it's really pretty. That was pleasant. Nothing earth shattering, but is was pretty and enjoyable. It was good for him to get away from his super duper cheese factor. It worked. Big Mike is playin' the game.
Mmmm....Usher.....
Didi (What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted) - Hmmm. Not sure about the song - it's a little bit for her voice, I think. The big belty stuff doesn't suit her. A few pitch problems too. Wow, Ryan.....that was awkward. She's trying not to bring it up, obviously. Way to be sensitive and catch a clue, dude.
Tim (Sweet Love) - He really seems like a nice guy. And as much as I kinda look forward to his performances for the sheer ridonkulousness (like, wouldn't you rather hear Tim than Katie Stevens?), I do worry about the poor kid's self-esteem being absolutely wrecked. He is emoting, which is good. The melody is difficult, and he's doing OK with it. Missing notes here and there, but not terrible. It started to lost steam toward the end, but it wasn't a complete train wreck. (Did Randy just say "pedestrian"???? Color me impressed!)
Andrew (Forever) - Hmmm...good song. Started a little shaky, seemed to gain a little steam. His enunciation is a little overly crisp. I think he could have done more with it, gotten into it a bit more, if his self esteem wasn't in the trash after the judges' treatment. Overall, though, it was a vast improvement. Hopefully this will give him a little momentum, and he'll be able to pick up where he left off. LOL at Andrew's mom. He looks so delightfully embarrassed. Those are shenanigans I can get behind.
Katie (Chain of Fools) - Oh Katie, why why why would you do this song? Holy pitchy, Batman. Also, the backup singers are TOTALLY showing her up. Ugh, she's just trying too hard. Her little fake 'tude is not at all believable. It got better toward the end, but, meh.
Lee (Treat Her Like a Lady) - Does he really have pneumonia? That sucks! Anyway, I love his voice, I really do. He does still seem nervous, but he's performing through it, and he really came across awesome tonight. Love him! I hope Simon's right, and he finally realizes that he awesome, but not so much that he's cocky. It's a fine line.
Crystal (Midnight Train to Georgia) - Ooooh, piano, and great song!!! It was nice to change it up, although she clearly didn't look quite as comfortable. But it made her seem a little vulnerable, which I think she might need in a weird way, in terms of public perception. The vocals were great as usual, except that one little high run in the middle.
Sue Sylvester in da house!!! Only two more weeks til more GLEEEEE!!!!
Aaron (Ain't No Sunshine) - Kinda dangerous song choice after Kris' performance last year. Shaky start, but it got better. The "I know"s were not as good as in his clip. Overall, pretty good. He's so adorable. I really just wanna hug him. Didn't compare at all to Kris' version, though. (I know Ryan agrees...)
