How are they lost and what are they angry about? Perhaps helping or figuring out that problem (their problem) could help you figure out your's.
and I'm really not capable of that...
Watch out self defeating presumption... What makes you incapable of writing a novel? What if it's something you really liked and wanted to write a novel on? You need to learn for the love of learning, and do what your learning has enabled you to do or else you will be cheating yourself out of your education and honest efforts - and in the case of teaching, cheating those whom you are teaching out of their education as well. This is only my take on things, but I believe that the education system is in dire need of readjustment or perhaps a little bit of revision. True, learning how to teach is one thing and what it entails is necessary to teaching, however, learning how to "be a teacher" leaves you with what to actually teach? I'm talking out of my ass, yes, but there is a lot to be said for experience in the "real world" as it's called. Mr. Ranney for example. He did not go to school to be a teach, did he? Well, I don't remember if that's what he went for, but my point is that he ended up being an actual stock broker, real world, real life, actually doing it style. Then he came and taught economics. I might make an entry on this because it's been one of my bedtime thoughts for a while. (yeah, I'm a big dork, I cry myself to sleep over the short falls of the educational system and get all riled up about how to change it...) Anyhow, I hope that you don't get me as being all "preachy" or anytyhing. Just sort of being like "dude, you could write a novel if you wanted to write a novel; and if you don't want to write a novel now you won't want to do something "big" like that later. Thing about how you can change the world, little buddy, because you're definitely capable of it."
