Being intimidated by Mathematics is (imo) a cultural difference. The United States encourages strong arts skills and allows poor Science-Math skills. Confirmed by the number of non American engineer & technical people that the U.S. employs.
I like the advertisement in-between, "There's only one reason to choose a wireless company - the network". Obviously math skills do not count.
Often when we've checked bills, we've found that companies (MCI was the worst at this but Sprint and At&T have also done this to us) will often charge us random stuff. They claim that these were mistakes, but I personally believe that it's an "if they're not looking" swindle). In this case it's neither a random mistake nor an intentional swindle, it's intentional ignorance of what decimals mean.
