I recently bought a book called Mr. Funky's Super Crochet Wonderful.  It contained many patterns in it for Amigurumi Animals and other accessories like hats, scarves earrings.  It's a very cute book... Of course you could probably find all these patterns online for free.  Here was my first project from it:
