If anyone reading this ever catches me online past 11:00 on monday and wednesday nights and I am not idle, please IM me and make me go to bed. I need to stop staying up so late!!! (Tues and Thurs I have been blessed with an 8 a.m. class)
Speaking of that class, today we took a personality/learning test. I am apparently rare and dangerous, says the instructor lol. I guess I'm one of those people persons, I looooove people. And what happens is when someone hurts a person who loves people is really ugly, so he says. We can turn our backs on the world. Lol, I am determined not to become a school shooter or unibomber, I promise.
Type 1 learner: Diverger
Perceive information concretely and process it reflectively. They integrate experience with the Self (note the capitalization, we must see ourselves as gods). They learn by listening and sharing ideas. Are imaginative thinkers (prolly why "we" can visualize killing people) who believe in their own experience. They excel in viewing direct experience from many perspectives. They value insigh thinking. They work for harmony. They need to be personally involved, seek commitment. Are interested in people and culture. They are thoughtful people who enjoy observing other people. They absorb reality and seek meaning and clarity.
Concrete experience: Focus on being involved and dealing with immediate human situations in a personal way, emphasizes feeling as opposed to thinking, an intuitive "artistic" approach as opposed to systematic scientific approach to solving problems, enjoys and is good at relating to others, has an open-minded approach to life... (except for when we snap and blow up the world).
Reflective observation: Focus on understanding the meaning of ideas and situations by carefully observing and impartially describing them, concern with what is true or how things happen as opposed to what will work, emphasis on reflection as opposed to action, good at looking at things from different perspectives and at appreciating different points of view (except yours--yeah, you), likes to rely on own thoughts and feelings to form opinions (about your mom).
And apparently, I have no abstract conceptualization or active experimentation. My experiments take place within the context of my imagination. Wow, and all this time I thought those drama productions were real!!
STRENGTH: Innovation and ideas
FUNCTION BY: Value clarification
GOALS: To be involved in important issues and to bring harmony (awwww) (Shane, you're both winners!!!)
CAREERS: Counseling, teaching, organizational development, humanities, and social sciences (That's news.)
FAVORITE QUESTION: WHY?? (They taught us not to ask that in peer mediation, it's bad, makes people crazy and violent, just the sound of it. It's also annoying to parents with toddlers.)
Ok, so that's supposedly me. Actually, I do have to agree with it. I just don't think I'm going to start viewing the world negatively and killing people just because someone hurts me lol. It's been done, and I'm still fine, see? (Don't answer that.)
Hey, but anyway, now the good stuff!
I went to chorale last night. A choir of ten lolol. 4 sopranos, 4 altos, 1 tenor, 1 bass. Now remember Matt?? The kid that reminded me of Shane? Yeah. He's in the chorus too haha! And he is such a ham!! He was adding in his own part because he didn't like the old one!! And then he stood up and started singing Elton John. The instructor loves him. The instructor... She's definitely NOT V lol. She's got the haircut, but hers is gray and she's very, very, very quiet... soft-spoken... ok boys and girls... let's calm down so we can start now... However, she does have one of my favorite V sayings: "Take your pencil and mark up the music!" Lol, the second she said that, I felt at home. The music is kinda challenging, I've never heard of any of it before, Christmas songs, and no Erev, but I'll survive.. sigh.... The people can sing. So that's a plus. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but pretty much everyone seems to be on the same level as I am, not terribly professional, but they can read the music and sing the part. Except for the Shane-like kid with an extra boost of ego... Apparently, he's God.
Tiffany gave me a tale from the old farm yesterday that I nearly died over laughing. It was early morning, still dark, and one of their cows escaped and plopped itself down in the middle of the road. Traffic was backed up beeping when her father and brother went outside. They had to get chairs and chase it around in efforts to herd it back into the gate!! And I just found it hilarious!! Picture the old bluegrass banjo playing and the cow's a-mooin' and the guys are a-runnin' around with thur chairs, "yee-haw! git on in thur, go on, git!" Lmao, I was laughing more because Tiffany was taking it seriously lol. I can't wait to go home with her next weekend and see this town called Perry for myself. The intersection with one stoplight, 4 buildings (one on each corner) a graduating class of like 12, and a population of more cows than people. You can expect a nifty lj entry on that experience when I get back.
This weekend her boyfriends coming up and we made a deal, she gets the room all to herself to do whatever her heart pleases Friday night, and I'll drag my mattress, blankets, pillow, and stuffed cow down the hall to Annie and Amanda's, and then on Saturday night, I'm staying in my room and they're behaving. That's the deal so far. Oh, remember that little bet we made? Yeah, she lost miserably. First thing she said when we woke up.. "When Doug gets here on Friday..." *gasps!* *cups hands over mouth, eyes huge, questioning* Me: (yawning and croaking with puffy, slitty eyes) Yes... Yes, that counts.
Hoes on the Lawn.
Every afternoon there's this certain group of upperclassmen girls that like to lay out their blankets across the chapel lawn and catch some sun in their bikinis, and on occasion, they will stand up and wave to guys and flirt their asses off and all that wonderful jazz. Well lmao, someone in Creative Writing wrote a poem about them entitled "Hoes on the Lawn" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg I was hysterical! Because at first you're really thinking this poem is about garden hoes, literally, on the lawn... and then you start to catch the symbolism and it's talking about the girls in their bikinis!! That girl is my comedic hero and I hope to God she gets her stuff published. Quite a sense of humor.
There are also a few other things that go on on that lawn. On the other side of the chapel is a whole other section of field overlooking the lake. Well, as I was walking to chorale I realized there were 2 girls to each blanket, and they were not sun-bathing... They were cuddling, and some were doing much more. Lesbians on the chapel lawn!! I have nothing against it lol, but I must say, you don't see the heteros laying out their blankets on a church lawn for everyone to see and making out. Actually, I found it amusing more than anything. One, that there is a designated hang-out for lesbian couples on campus to go; two, that that designated area happens to be the chapel lawn; and three, that we have so many lesbians in such a small, private school where most people come from farms and villages such as the one where Belle grew up (Ode to Beauty & the Beast). It was funny. No wonder there have been so many conferences, sessions, and even skits lmao about diversity and being open to people who are different than you, with a particular emphasis on homosexuality. Now I understand what all the skits about gays coming out were for.
Well, my laundry is definitely done by now!!! Gotta go! Looking forward to homecoming and so glad we're still keeping in touch! Mwua!
