Hi fellow Calgarians,
Does anyone have a regular family doctor in Calgary that is taking new patients? I mean a real family doctor, as opposed to someone at a walk-in clinic.
I'm just getting tired of A) walking into the Medicentre and playing Russian Roulette in terms of what doctor I get B) Playing Russian Roulette in terms of the quality of care - like the time I had strep and they told me it was herpes and prescribed $100 worth of anti-herpes meds, C) Having to show up at 9am to finally see someone at 11:30 for 15 minutes of his time, and having to miss a good half day of work to do so, and D) Not having access to a medical professional with whom I can discuss non-urgent health matters - e.g, what weight should I be at before we can conceive, and is my current weight enough of a problem that we should delay conception until its lower - that kind of thing.
In other news, I was walking down 10th avenue this week and saw a presumably homeless man openly peeing on the side of a bottle depot, with his ass exposed for God and all passersby to see. Not 15 feet down the road sat a parked Corvette, license plate "EATRBBR". If that contrast doesn't sum up Calgary these days, I don't know what does. Well, maybe the scene at McDonald's this week - a young man was clearly undergoing a job interview as I stood in line to get a bottle of water. The interesting thing is, aside from the Candidate and the interviewer, there also sat what appeared to be his mother and younger brother. The interviewer spoke to the mother almost as often as she did to the candidate himself. I think he couldn't be more than 13 or 14 at most - whatever the legal minimum age to work is, now. Hrm. Interesting turn in society.
Cheers!
