"Found" educational and my best friend

Tonight was fun....I was invited by M to a delightful event at the University Book Store showcasing the magazine "Found".  The magazine publishes the found letters, shopping lists, flyers, lost notes that have been lost or tossed out and discovered by random third parties....often with hilarious results in the reading. The magazine is published by Davy Rothbart and Jason Bitner who are on the road right now talking up the wonderful concept now printed in it's 5 annual issue. Davy Rothbart is also known for his work on "This American Life" reading many personal stories of his own. The readings were often poignant and humorous, sometimes touching on very tender emotions but mostly revealing the goofy, and mixed up aspects of the penning authors life...like I said before, often with hilarious results. Davy's brother, Peter, is also on the tour with the magazine. He plays guitar and likes to fashion some of the submissions to the magazine into folksy and humorous songs....he played several and they really were quite good in their own right.

The thing that really touched me most about this event is that it so very much is what I love about M. His ability to be connected to so many different avenues for entertaining himself is amazing!
Try as I may to read about an event, tune into this source for news or just simply try to find the hidden gems in life that make the days sparkle I never really feel like I am as well tuned in as he is!  I'm just truly grateful that M is in my life and enjoys my company enough to invite me along for the ride. I guess I always try to be a good friend, but M really has re-set the standard for me and shown me that life is full of joy and hidden surprises.
It reminds me of a fun quote from an old band....
"Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right"
It almost seems like a quote that could have come from my friend M...
Thanks for the fun buddy...you are the best friend a guy could ever have!
