I just realized I posted my review of them over at their community in June, but never bothered to post it here. I'll post it here now so I can use it for reference for when I see them on the 25th. I wonder if the set list will be different or similar?
Anyway, from the 26th of June:
Okay, first time poster here in this community so bear with me. I guess it appears that I am the first one to review the show in Atlanta, and believe me, it was one hell of a show. I will try to do my best to capture the essence of it.
The first time I saw them was in July of 92 during their Last Rights tour and from what I can remember 14 years ago, it was something memorable and unbelievable. The images that pop in my mind back then was their first song on the list: "Addiction" and their encore, "Testure." The rest of the show was but a blur, but so intense.
This show was no different. It is as if Skinny Puppy never broke up in the first place. Ogre came out on stage top notch with his prop suit and scattering fake blood to the audience, including me, breaking out with "I'mmortal" as the first song on the list. From there, it only intensified as he lured the audience in his twisted visage and dance, and of course-- scattering more blood on us.
As far as the song list, from what I can remember off the top of my head was the following. Bear with me, for I really don't remember all the songs as I was beginning to feel the effects of heat exhaustion, but I think this is the just of them:
I'mmortal
Protest
Curcible
God's Gift
VX Gas Attack
Worlock
Neuwerld
Glass Houses
Tin Omen
Inquisition
Hardset Head
Human Disease
Harsh Stone White
Smothered Hope(encore)
Testure
I know there was more, but again, I can't seem to remember at the moment. I was front and dead center, almost passing out from the heat generated in the place, and having a sold out crowd crushing me from behind as they tried to advance to the front of the stage. And to add to the chaos-- having a barrage of crowd surfers trying to target me as their pillow to fall upon.
The looks I got after the show, though, was priceless. I was unaware my entire face was smeared with fake blood and mud, along with my hands and arms. There's still blood on my shoes as well. Unfortunate that I did not have a camera with me, as the security in front of the Masquerade were quite stringent that night.
As memoirs for that night, I picked up one of their tour shirts and a pin to sport on my leather when winter's bite returns in the fall. I hope they do return again soon, as I couldn't get enough of them, and now all I have are memories and a few online snapshots from everyone else here who contributed.
And that's my review.
