Pixies

I am dead tired from last night and I'm keeping myself up with generous amounts of coffee just brewed in the office at the moment.

Last night I ventured out and saw The Pixies at the Fox Theatre in downtown Atlanta, and boy was that a great show! The Thrills opened up for them, but they didn't impress me that much and it was quite obvious that everyone was waiting for the main show.

The Pixies came onstage around 9:15 and played a cool 90 min set. They played every single song I loved. It was unbelievable. Here is the set list from what I can remember last night, since I did have a few beers in me. The highlighted ones are my personal faves that I sang along to:

In Heaven
Wave of Mutilation(acoustic)
Here Comes Your Man
Bone Machine
Nimrod's Son
Blown Away
Cactus
The Holiday Song
Ed Is Dead
Vamos
Where Is My Mind?
Into the White
Is She Weird
Subbacultcha
Mr. Grieves
River Euphrates
U-Mass
Something Against You
Isla de Encanta
Crackity Jones
Debaser
Broken Face
I Bleed
Monkey Gone To Heaven
Caribou
Velouria
Gouge Away
Tame
Hey

Encore:
Wave of Mutilation
Gigantic

So yeah, pretty much every song was my favorite. Now I kinda wish I had a second ticket to see them again. Ah well, well worth my nodding off in front of this work computer.

I'm thinking about taking a vacation day for the Skinny Puppy show on the 25th, since it is on a Monday night. I don't know if I can survive that onslaught and live to show up the next morning. The Pixies audience were mellow and seated, but I know the Puppy show will be chaotic and violent.

Of course, I'll debate on it, since my love's martyr complex has rubbed off on me, even though I have two weeks of sick time, two weeks of vacation, and two personal days to use. I might as well put them to use.
