Randomly, I think one of the things that makes Charming palpable, even quite likable this season his how much HE dislikes his David side. I really like in general how they're handling everyone now having two sets of memories. Such an interesting twist!
Yes! I was not expecting that. And I've really been loving this whole thing with the fairy-tale characters adjusting to the real world and their other lives. I wasn't expecting the show to change things up this much, this soon, but I really like it!
And the show made me like David. Seriously, show, wtf.
*g* I never said anything when you wrote about how you don't like him because I remember the whole cheating thing in season 1 and I hated that, too. (Though I'm good at overlooking stuff I don't like in shows I like to watch but am not fannish about, so that helps, and I had already forgotten about it anyway if you hadn't reminded me.) And I had a similar reaction (though I also always thought of David and Charming as different people, so while I didn't like David, I liked Charming) and started to like him, myself. (And yay, you're catching up! I'm never good at commenting on posts where people are behind for fear of inadvertently spoiling them because I never know what happened in which episode.)
I like S2 too! Not fannish about it and probably never be, but it's enjoyable to watch, and I really like not knowing what would happen next. (Though, after watching the last couple of eps one in a week I'm beginning to think the show like this is more compelling to me when I could immerse in it marathoning. I might just wait until the end of S2 and then watch all the eps at once.

Awww, thank you! <3 And yeah, I don't know how I'm going to feel about this show once I'm no longer marathoning it. I watched all of season one in a week; it's hard not to get into a show when you're mainlining it at that speed. But I'm very happy with it right now, and I like the way that it keeps confounding my expectations.
There are moments with this show where I am all "...am I making this up? IS THIS A DREAM?" because it is EXACTLY what I wanted.
I KNOW!!! This season has been absolutely like that for me. There have been so many occasions where I've expected it to go in the standard TV-show way, and then it goes in a COMPLETELY MORE AWESOME direction that is exactly what I want. \o/ I'm so glad I started watching this show!
Hee, I noticed the 80s cars in the first few eps and enjoyed it (but don't they have cell phones? I can't remember but I thought they did...or maybe just Emma does?)
As Gnine said above, that's why I found I couldn't really hate Charming, because he hates David as much as anyone and admits it's his worst self. Also he's adorable as Henry's grandfather.
When I mentioned f/f ships, yeah, Mulan/Aurora all the way! And them running about with Emma & Snow is magnificent - 4 women on an adventure and the show doesn't even make a big deal about it, it just does it...
I think that I do remember seeing cell phones, but I don't recall if it was anyone other than Emma and maybe Henry who had them.
And yeah, the show has actually managed to redeem David/Charming for me in a major way, which really amazed me. I like him now! And the dynamic between him and Henry is really cracking me up. Actually, the whole family dynamic on the show is really, really interesting this season.
MM had an older Nokia phone (one I used to have, in fact! :p) that was pre-smart phone era. I remember her getting a text on the phone at the diner while with Emma in one ep.
The family dynamics this season have been incredible and oh, Regina... she still isn't happy with Snow, Charming and Gold, but at least she's growing as a character now because of Henry.

I'm looking forward to getting caught up so I don't have to worry about spoilers, but on the other hand, then I won't have any more new episodes!
