fffx; FFFX on AO3. Signups close Aug. 11. 10K+/10 pages of comics exchange due early next year.

Dear Gifter: Thank you so much for making something for me! I hope I've given you enough to work with here, but if not, please see my exchange letters tag for more of what I like.

General likes: hurt/comfort, fluff, angst with a happy or hopeful ending, found family, curtainfic/domesticity, characters hanging out together (getting drinks after work, playing games, etc), casefic/action, presumed dead, missing scenes, futurefic, loyalty, antagonists/rivals/enemies to friends, bickering/banter, AUs, forced cohabiting (tents, hotel rooms, only one bed). In general, two of my VERY favorite relationship dynamics are characters evolving from being hostile to friendly, with all the intermediate steps in between; and characters being "weird" about each other (ship or not) in a slightly codependent/up-in-each-other's-space way that outsiders don't quite understand. I also really love tropey fic (sex pollen! bodyswap! soulbonding! amnesia! werewolves!). I don't mind violence/gore/horror, but want an optimistic ending.

Canon pairings are always fine to include.

DNWs: major character death or terminal illness unless canon (death fakeouts with happy endings or characters being cured from a nearly terminal state are fine), mention of current real-world events/politics/pandemics, tragic or hopeless endings.

My requests for different fandoms are highly variable in length, but this is entirely due to my success (or lack thereof) at coming up with ideas - I would be equally happy to receive anything I asked for! Also, the prompts are only for ideas. If you have a different idea you think I might like, go for it! Fandoms are listed in alphabetical order.

Fandoms:

Benjamin January Mysteries
Abishag Shaw & Rose Vitrac
Benjamin January/Rose Vitrac & Abishag Shaw

I really love all the main cast, but Rose and Shaw are probably my two favorites, and there is a dire lack of direct interaction between them in most of the books. I would really love a solo Rose and Shaw adventure of some kind - though naturally the others are welcome to show up as much as you like. And Ben/Rose is welcome anytime.

- One of Ben's cases puts Rose and the kids in danger, and Shaw ends up guarding them. At the house, maybe? Or some kind of Louis L'Amour-esque trek through the woods, with dire peril and Shaw doing his woodsman thing and Rose being resourceful and cool? A Rose and Shaw wilderness survival adventure would be amazeballs.

- Some kind of "five things" with Shaw getting to know the Januaries over the years.

- Any sort of canon-typical casefic with Rose helping out with a case.

- Totally here for modern AUs, magic AUs, or various forms of canon divergent AUs in this fandom! Maybe AU Rose and Shaw are friendlier than their canon counterparts - in some AU version they might have actually met first, or end up bonding some other way. Any sort of magical realism or urban fantasy blended with their world, in either a historical or modern context, would be really fun for me - maybe Shaw has wings and Rose recognizes it because she does too; maybe they are platonic soulmates and it takes them a long time to realize it; etc.

- Shaw showing up hurt and on the run and having to hide with Ben and Rose while he recuperates is something I'd totally be here for.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
James "Bucky" Barnes & Sam Wilson & Helmut Zemo
James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson/Helmut Zemo

I completely fell for their three-way dynamic in the show! Zemo is an incredibly fun wildcard in Sam and Bucky's bickery rivals-to-friends relationship. I love the uneasy-allies thing that they have going on, and the slight hints of their feelings about each other warming up, and I would be 100% here for watching that thawing continue.

As for relationships, I'm fine with any variant: completely platonic, deeply weird about each other but not actually having sex, sex happened once but never again, fuckbuddies, fuckbuddies catching feelings, full-on OT3, etc. I'm also fine if you just do Sam/Zemo or Bucky/Zemo as long as the other is a significant part of the fic; the main reason why I didn't request those tags is because I don't want the other one left out, but I'm not by any means wedded to a full OT3.

- Zemo is released from prison into Sam and Bucky's custody, but officially this time, with some kind of kill switch/control device. You can go full pain/shock collar if you want; maybe it's something they don't entirely have control over, so it punishes him when he says or does certain things, or gets outside a certain radius, whether they want or not.

- Sam and Bucky find out about something terrible happening in the Raft (terribly cruel experiments, that kind of thing) and have to break him out.

- Zemo shows up on the run, in deep trouble and needing their help. Badly hurt, or pursued by a death squad, or the always-a-classic "poisoned with 24 hours to live" scenario ... I'm not picky.

- Dimension slip! They meet alt versions of one or more of them. Maybe it's a universe where Sam or Bucky is a supervillain, or where Zemo's family never died and he's living a quiet life with them. Maybe they end up on the run in a dystopic AU reality where nice guy Zemo is the only person they can trust - or is he? (However this goes down, I'd prefer not to have the story end up with a "new improved Zemo" vibe in which our Zemo is replaced with a nice-guy version of him and the old one becomes expendable. Maybe Zemo from our reality is with them all along, maybe an AU Zemo makes them think differently of their own, maybe they help out some other universe's Zemo but he can't come back with them, etc. Bonus: Zemo *thinks* he's expendable because they'd rather have the nicer one but they prefer the original.)

- Sex pollen. I'm down with the regular porny variety for sure, but even more down with variations that produce different unpleasant effects, maybe even with no sex at all - making someone desperately skin-hungry, or producing total sensory overload, or something of that nature.

- Drugging, similar to the above, but with different effects. It could be an overdose of something, or a truth drug that makes someone extremely emotionally open and suggestible, or just heavy-duty painkillers or something similar making them loopy. Basically I am always here for characters being drugged and out of it, with the implied "you are the only person/people I trust to take care of me like this."

- Survival scenarios of all sorts, in the wilderness or on an alien planet or wherever you want to strand them.

- Amnesia would be a great trope for these three, especially if they've already developed some level of trust between them. Maybe they all wake up with total amnesia and have to figure out what kind of relationship they have; maybe Zemo thinks he's back in 2016, or Sam or Bucky forget that he's not their enemy anymore and there is ANGST.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Sarah Wilson & Helmut Zemo
Ayo & Helmut Zemo
Isaiah Bradley & Helmut Zemo

So basically I just really like the idea of Zemo interacting with different people than the ones he's normally paired up with in fic! Preferably with some warmer feelings eventually rather than pure animosity. It doesn't have to end up as actual friendship (although it could!) but I just would like something more than outright hate.

Gen is lovely, but you can feel free to include Sam/Zemo, Bucky/Zemo, or Sam/Bucky/Zemo as background pairings if that's your thing. And also, in general, you can have Sam and Bucky or other characters show up as much as you like.

Sarah & Zemo

Although I understand why canon didn't go this way, I really wished that Sam had (for reasons) ended up bringing Zemo back to his family home and was disappointed that we never got to see Zemo interacting with his family. So I would love to see that, on whatever pretext you want!

- There's some sort of situation in which she's being threatened (because of Sam's Captain America thing, maybe?) and Zemo has to protect her, or perhaps he infiltrates some kind of enemy base to get her out? Sam and Bucky are both way too recognizable, but it would be really interesting to see Zemo use his chameleonic nature for a good purpose. (If he gets hurt in the process and Sarah has to help get HIM out and they escape together, all to the good!)

- Or maybe the ones in danger are Sam's nephews, and Zemo works with Sarah (and/or Sam & Bucky as well) to get them back?

- It could also be something more low-key. Maybe he's badly hurt or on the run and has to lie low at Sam's place for a while, and Sarah ends up being thrown into closer contact with him than she planned for. Bonus for either of the above: Zemo really does seem to like kids and ends up getting along WAY better with the kids than anyone expects or is entirely comfortable with.

- Or maybe it's just a series of instances of Zemo showing up with Sam and Bucky under various circumstances, maybe a five things or similar sequence of Sarah being kind of an outside POV on her brother and his BFF working with this guy. I just like the idea of Zemo being a complete outsider to Sarah's quiet domestic life but kind of orbiting around the edges of it and maybe being drawn in a little sometimes, too.

Ayo & Zemo

This is obviously an extremely fraught relationship, and I don't want Ayo's very legitimate grievances with him to be completely downplayed - that is, Ayo finding out that Zemo has more depths than she believed and perhaps developing grudging respect and even friendship would be lovely, but she *does* have legitimate reasons to hate him, her people were greatly wronged by him, and so I'd hope any change of heart would be well earned and not "Ayo was wrong all along and must apologize," if that makes sense. That being said, I really love enemies working together and developing some grudging friendlike feelings.

- I am completely in favor of any and all scenarios in which Zemo is released to work from prison with the Wakandan equivalent of an exploding collar/kill device (or something less lethal is fine too) and Ayo is his handler. Maybe they have a control device that can cause him pain and Ayo has the control, with possibly mixed feelings about that. Anyway, a caseficcish scenario with the two of them working together would be great.

- A survival scenario would work really well for them! She's transporting him somewhere and there's a crash, perhaps? Or some kind of dimensional malfunction strands them on another planet/reality?

- The Wakandans find out that something really bad is happening in the Raft and show up on a rescue mission (of sorts). Perhaps Ayo finds herself responsible for an extremely damaged Zemo at that point, and they have to go from there.

Isaiah & Zemo

I think what I want mostly from this request is Zemo recognizing, one way or another, that Isaiah is a victim who (like Bucky) didn't want it and hasn't benefited from having it and is uncorrupted by it -- another exception, essentially, to Zemo's beliefs on supersoldiers.

- Someone is after Isaiah and Zemo helps protect him. Maybe the government found out about him, Sam & Bucky have him in a safehouse and need a third person? They might not even tell him what's actually going on (the supersoldier thing) but he figures it out anyway.

- Or maybe Zemo actually does show up to kill him after finding out that he took the serum, Things Go Wrong (another kill squad shows up or something) and they end up on the run together, mutually VERY distrusting, but having to work together to cope with whatever is happening.

Greatest American Hero
Pam Davidson & Ralph Hinkley & Bill Maxwell
Pam Davidson/Ralph Hinkley & Bill Maxwell
Pam Davidson/Ralph Hinkley/Bill Maxwell

Obscure '80s superhero show that I got back into this past spring, because as it turns out, it's actually really delightful. The characters are charming and the slice-of-life + superhero-shenanigans style is actually very ahead of its time in spite of the show's extreme low-budgetness; it makes me think of modern Marvel shows but more down-to-earth, and subverts genre conventions in the first episode when the hero's girlfriend finds out about his secret identity and then joins in their adventures subsequently. So basically I would be entirely happy with anything about these three doing their thing.

- Canon-typical shenanigans! Which on this show could mean anything from aliens to Russian spies. A canon-like casefic would be delightful, preferably more down-to-earth than completely over-the-top and cracky (even though the show could be sometimes). I'm also fine with a cracky premise treated seriously; I just would rather not have it be a complete joke in which there are no stakes.

- The show has a very disappointing "poisoned with 24 hours to live" episode in which that's like 10 minutes of the episode and never really goes anywhere. Do it right, please! I'm partial to Bill h/c in general, so I will never say no if you want to poison him, but it also might be really fun to do this one with Pam because then you get the guys going out of their minds worrying about her.

- Something with Pam and Bill having to work more closely together than normal would be fantastic. I would really like to see them get to bond on their own. Maybe she needs Bill's help on a legal case, or she helps him out with a problem - perhaps something he doesn't want Ralph to know about? Or Bill decides to teach her self-defense or basic gun marksmanship so she can better handle herself in a fight? I think he has a lot of respect for her, and she definitely cares about him, so watching those aspects come to the surface is something I would really enjoy.

- Any tropey h/c or survival scenarios are great. If you take away the suit, Ralph is just an ordinary guy, so you could deprive him of the suit and force them into any kind of car crash, kidnapping, plane crash, etc.

- Hostage situations would also be really fun with this show! Maybe Ralph and Pam in a hostage situation without the suit, and Bill trying to get to them?

- Having them encounter something weird or magical that's different from the weird, magical things they've encountered so far. I mean, the show canonically has aliens, ghosts, and *retrieving your dead friend's soul from the afterlife.* You can probably get away with anything from sea monsters to any mad science trope you want to use.

- I'd also be down for something more everyday. I really enjoy Bill being part of Pam and Ralph's lives, and Ralph's protectiveness of his troubled teens at school. So a story involving domesticity, the kids, etc. would be fun too! Also feel free to lean into the 80s tech, fashion, etc. as much as you want.

- The OT3 version: I've never actually read this but I think I'd be really into it, if you want to write it! Some kind of getting-together scenario combined with one of the above scenarios, or just kind of on its own, woven through canon, with Bill becoming more and more a part of their lives until they're basically buying a house together.

Iron Fist
Ward Meachum & Danny Rand
Ward Meachum & Danny Rand & Colleen Wing

I just love them so much. Watching them all figuring out how to be family with each other (an ongoing work in progress) was a delight. I am an absolute sucker for Ward's slow crawl towards being a decent human being and rebuilding his relationship with Danny; sunshine Danny and cynical realist Ward are a perfect odd-couple pair. And I always wished we'd seen Ward and Colleen bond more. They have so much in common, including their prickly exteriors, weird/abusive childhoods, both of them having been victims of the Hand, and of course their shared love for Danny.

I am, let's face it, always delighted with anything terrible happening to Ward, but I also love his protector/big-brother tendencies and enjoy seeing him as the caretaker, protector, or rescuer too, for either Danny or Colleen. Canon-typical Danny/Colleen is welcome.

I've talked about this canon a lot in past letters, so you can find additional prompts by going through my exchange letters tag. Anything I've asked for in the past is something I'd be delighted to receive again.

- Road trip! There's so much potential for danger and angst and bonding and ridiculous shenanigans, dealing with mystical artifacts and magical danger in any part of the world whatsoever, etc. I also love forced-proximity tropes, such as sharing a hotel room or a tent, with all its attendant potential for learning about each other, witnessing the other's nightmares, or just generally fighting and bonding. And Colleen can be there too, if you want! Maybe it's a slight AU in which she's with them all along, or she comes to join them later on. You don't even need to explain necessarily why she's there, since she could have dropped in at any point. (I'm also fine if it's just Danny & Ward, of course.)

- This exchange would also be a great opportunity for long post-canon fic *after* the road trip, when Ward and Danny are back in New York. I would be really interested in plotty fic about that, working with their post-canon lives, maybe Danny and Colleen finding their way back to each other, Ward figuring out what he wants out of life, etc.

- Missing, presumed dead, kidnapped, etc are great tropes that are always in style, especially when it forces the other(s) to slam headlong into how much they've actually come to care about each other.

- Amnesia! You could do so much with this, perhaps resetting any of them to an early season one state (or earlier) when they don't know or trust the others yet. Or maybe they both/all wake up with complete amnesia and have no idea who they are, where they are, or why Danny's fist lights up when he gets upset.

- A slow-burn bonding fic with Ward and Colleen, perhaps while searching for a missing/kidnapped Danny, or taking care of Danny after he's hurt, would be a delight.

- AUs! All the AUs, canon-divergent or total. What if Ward is a selkie and Harold has his skin locked in a safe? Roleswap in which Ward is the Iron Fist and Danny is the one who stayed behind? AU in which Ward was one of the people at the police station in Defenders? Maybe drugs gave Ward superpowers or made him grow wings. Maybe he's part of an experiment that his dad was running. Maybe instead of monks, Danny was abducted by aliens or raised in a traveling circus. (I like to imagine Ward's face when Danny AND HIS ENTIRE CIRCUS comes rolling back into his life after 15 years.) Historical AUs, fantasy AUs, total mundane AUs in which they're running a bookshop or a pet rescue - I like them all.

- Between-seasons fic is also really great, with everyone's tentative steps toward getting to know each other and Ward putting his life together after Danny and Colleen return to New York.
