Because, unfortunately for him, he falls for the secretive and stubborn Jang Hyunseung who has a reputation for being unresponsive to the most romantic of courting. He wakes up and at the back of his mind, he already knows he has received a text message. He grabs his cellphone and smiles, patting himself on the back because yes, he does and yes, it's from none other than his stalker-ish courter Yong Junhyung.
From: My Stalker
Wake up!!! And don't forget your things.
I'll see you at the bus. Kkkk
He shakes his head and gets ready for school. When he finishes washing up and putting on his uniform, he remembers that today is the 15th. Today is the day he changes bags. It's a habitual thing he does every month on the 15th or the weekday closest it. He looks at the time and panics. Only a few more minutes left until his usual time to get out of the house. He hurriedly goes to his stash of bags and grabs at the first one he gets his hands on. He takes his other bag and places everything there in one big mess. He doesn't bother to pick up the stuff that have gone flying and rolling on the floor, thinking only of his notebooks.
The little Hyunseung doll comes into view and he stops for awhile, staring at it and smiling. He shakes his head and places it in it's rightful place on the bag. He takes a good look at it before giving a final nod. He zips his bag and runs to the kitchen.
"Aigoo. Hyunseung-ah. How many times do I need to tell you? No running in the house. You might slip and fall. Your pretty little face will be ruined and-"
"Umma! I'm going to be late, can I have my food now?" He flails and sits down, a little jumpy but stops and looks at his mother crossly. "And don't call me pretty! I'm a guy!"
"Oh now, my cute little son don't you remember I-" His eyes grow wide.
"Aaaah! Food! Now!"
"Why do you always cut off your mother when she's speaking? That's bad you know." He sighs in relief as she puts down his food. He doesn't think twice before he shoves everything down his throat. He gulps down his water and almost chokes. Luckily, he regains composure. He grabs his bag, kisses his mother goodbye and hurries to the bus stop. He sits down and the bench, panting.
"Great. I look haggard." He pouts and looks at his watch. "A few minutes more before the bus arrives, enough time to fix myself and look presentable again."
He opens his bag and pales. It looks like a hurricane had gone into his bag and left destructions in its wake. His hand dives into the mess and prods for his comb. When he finally gets a hold of it, he runs it through his hair a few times before he puts it back into the bag. He looks up at the sky and realizes that it's dark and the chances of rain are high. He fixes the things in his bag and once more, pales when he realizes that he had left his umbrella in his other bag. He can't possibly go back to his house now. He crosses his fingers that he'll arrive in school in one dry piece.
The bus arrives in front of him and he gets in, paying for his ride. He looks at the back seat. Lo and behold, Junhyung is sitting there, looking at him. He keeps a straight face, knowing the other is expecting him to sit at the back. He knows this but he decides to go to his usual spot at the middle of the bus, near the window. Just because he sat there yesterday doesn't mean he's going to sit there everyday beside Junhyung already. He feels Junhyung staring at him during the ride and he becomes uneasy. He remains on his seat though and looks outside nonchalantly.
At the next stop, he vaguely notes that someone is beside him. He continues to stare at the sky outside, wishing and praying that it doesn't rain until he arrives in school. He murmurs to himself, "Why did I forget my umbrella today of all days?"
There's a shift beside him and from the corner of his eyes he notices but doesn't quite pay attention to the hands going through a bag. For the next few stops, he just loses himself in his random thoughts composed mostly of rain, dancing, music and someone else. He leans back on his seat and holds his backpack tighter. The trip seems longer and duller. He guesses the gloomy sky does wonders like that. And then it begins to rain.
"Damn." He couldn't stop his voice. He silently despairs on how to get inside the school with as little wetness as possible. He sighs and rants inside his head. To distract himself, he inconspicuously tries to look at the person beside him. He almost falls out of his seat when he sees Junhyung calmly looking straight ahead. He squirms in his seat and pretends to look inside his bag. He is flustered inside his head. He didn't think Junhyung would actually sit beside him but then that would explain why he didn't feel anymore staring. Now he feels stupid because Junhyung was right. He really is quite oblivious. His head hangs low at the thought.
"Hey, you're finally on earth again, aren't you?" His head shoot up so fast he gets dizzy.
"Uhh...yeah? Wait, what?" He hears Junhyung's laugh and he focuses his gaze on the other. He shakes off his dizziness and frowns. "Quit being a smart-ass. And what is with you? You were at the back seat, weren't you?"
"Yeah but I decided the view is better here so I changed seats. If you've got a problem with that, sorry to say we're almost at school." A smirk is tossed his way and he freezes like a deer caught in headlights again. "You should have complained earlier. Well you could have, if you weren't so oblivious to your surroundings."
He opens his mouth to retort but he finds that he himself had admitted that awhile back. He looks blankly at Junhyung. "It doesn't bother me that you're there. Anyone could sit beside me."
"Yeah. A thief could and you wouldn't even notice him stealing your things." Junhyung shakes his head. "You don't want to be treated like a girl but you sure act like one, Seung-ah."
His eyes widen for a second and then narrow down to slits at the comment. "Say that one more time and you'll find yourself black and blue and crawling on the streets in this rain. See if that's girl-y for you!"
Junhyung looks past him. "Oh hey! It's our stop."
He breathes in and breathes out slowly. He makes his face expressionless even though inside he just wants to punch the living daylights out of the guy pulling him out of the bus. And then it hits him. How is he supposed to go through this rain? He looks at Junhyung with questioning eyes. Junhyung produces a jacket out of thin air and places it over their heads. He stares at Junhyung.
"Would you guys hurry it up? The rain is getting in the bus." The driver snaps at them from behind.
Junhyung motions to the school and he hesitantly nods at the other, not entirely sure they should be doing this. He moves closer to Junhyung, clutching his bag.
"1, 2, 3...Go!" And they run through the rain. The cold air creeps through his skin as a few droplets of rain manage to get them. Despite the supposed coldness, a certain warmth is radiating from Junhyung that makes him shiver. He looks at Junhyung and somehow at the back of his mind, he wonders how it feels to be hugged by such a warm person. They arrive inside the school and the jacket disappears from over his head. The cold hits him then and he shudders a little. It's bearable but the sudden loss of warmth made it harsher than it supposedly is.
"If you're cold, you can borrow my jacket."
He looks at Junhyung and raises an eyebrow. "I'm not-"
"-a girl. Yeah, yeah. But I care more about your health than that petty thinking of yours." He narrows his eyes at Junhyung whose eyes roll and who moves toward him. Junhyung's arms go around him and then a weight is on his shoulders and he feels warm. He looks to the side and the jacket is hanging on him. He glares at Junhyung. Even if he's slightly elated at the gesture, it still bugs him to no end.
"Yong Junhyung, get your jacket off me or I'll turn you down right here, right now." Said person grabs his face with one hand and brings it close. A vein is throbbing and he feels his eye near to twitching. He hisses, "What?".
The other is smirking again. "You can turn me down all you want. I'm not giving up anytime soon."
Junhyung's breath fans over his face and he can smell Coke and a tiny hint of minty toothpaste. His eyes lose their focus and he blinks a couple of times before regaining his sanity. He looks at Junhyung crossly and spats out, "Fine. I don't like you. Don't bother me anymore. And take your damn jacket off me!"
But Junhyung just keeps smirking, just a little less than half a ruler from his face, hand still firm on his chin and cheek. He feels panic when the other moves closer and would have kicked the guy where it hurts if Junhyung hadn't move to the side of his head. And with one simple word, he nearly melts from the voice that could rival alcohol at getting him buzzed. "No."
He wills himself to stay strong and he is just about to congratulate himself when Junhyung goes and breaks him down again with a quick peck on his forehead and another buzz-worthy word. "Mine."
Junhyung walks away from him and all he does is stare at the retreating back. His eyes become like saucers when Junhyung pulls out an umbrella and waves it, back still facing him. Many thoughts run through his mind and he feels light-headed. He tries to process everything, how that insufferable Yong Junhyung always manages to get under his skin. He feels so frustrated and irritated but he keeps his cool as other students begin filling in the school.
He removes the jacket from his shoulders and slings his backpack across his shoulders. He holds the jacket on one arm and walks to his locker. He is so tempted to throw the jacket to the nearest garbage can but he doesn't follow his urge. He simply walks on and does his routine as if nothing happened. He goes to class and heads to Junhyung's desk. He dumps the jacket there and goes off to his seat. He puts his backpack down, doll swinging back and forth, and he doesn't acknowledge the paper airplane on his desk that had a cute fluffy pen sticking out of it. As much as he really likes the pen, he wills himself to disregard it in favor of staring outside.
The morning classes go by like a blur and the paper airplane still sits near the edge of his desk. When he meets up with Jiyong and the others, he just tunes everything out. They know when he's not in the mood. And they don't bother him at these times so he's thankful. Though the worried looks at him gets a little on his nerves, he disregards them and just acts as if nothing interests him. He tries not to think of Junhyung and the bold moves that guy makes, the advances on him and the gifts he receives. He is vaguely aware of someone looking at him but that's to be expected. Everyday, the looking and staring is to be expected. Not the he's arrogant but he does have lots of admirers.
He stands up and looks at his friends. He offers them a small genuine smile and it seems that it's all they're looking for because they all sigh in relief. He laughs softly before saying, "I know what you guys are planning in those brains of yours. And no, I don't give you permission to hunt down Junhyung."
"We don't need your permission. He's clearly done something to you!" Jiyong argues with a frown that looks almost like a pout, almost.
"Ji, no. If Hyun says we shouldn't then we shouldn't." Youngbae shakes his head at Jiyong.
"I'll tell you when to torture him, hyung. But not now." Hyunseung smiles at Jiyong, reaching a hand out to Jiyong's arm and squeezing it lightly. He smiles at the others and walks away.
He doesn't hear Daesung comment on how he seems to protect Junhyung from them, doesn't hear Seungri agree and the others murmuring something or the other along those lines. He merely makes his way to the classroom and to his seat. He sees the people present in the room have their heads buried deep into their books. That's the time he remembers of the test they had today. He has studied well last night after eating dinner. But he still wants to be sure so he hurries to his seat and pulls out his book, reading the topics they are supposed to.
Lunch ends and the teacher arrives. He stuffs his book and the paper airplane in his haste to clear his desk. The teacher asks for a pen and he bends down to his bag but all he could see are pencils, some used earlier in the morning. He panics before a fluffy white thing is in front of his face. His mind registers the fact that this pen could be used so he takes it and the test begins.
After the test, he puts down the pen and sighs. He's done all he can and thinks most of his answers are right. His eyes move to the pen and he reaches out for it. For a few second, he simply holds it in his hand. Then he stuffs it in his bag and takes out his pencil once more. When he grabs for his notebook, the paper airplane is stuck between the pages. He debates on whether to toss it in the bag like the pen or open it. He comes to the decision that it wouldn't hurt knowing what kind of line Junhyung's thought up now. He unfolds it and looks at the writing immediately.
Lean towards me and throw your heart.
His eyebrows disappear once more behind his bangs. He rolls his eyes afterward, putting the paper inside his bag. He turns to look at Junhyung quickly. When he sees the other smirking at him, he rolls his eyes once more as if saying, "Dream on." He looks to the front and listens to the lesson. The rest of the afternoon carries a lazy air of forced attention and drifting minds. The time for the end of classes comes and everyone is alive again. They stand up fast and run towards the exit. He isn't like them. He takes things in stride and with a cool, confident air.
A bag is dumped on his desk again and a body is leaning on it. He resists the urge to grab his bag and leave because that's not his style. But he does ignore that nagging presence of the other person. He would have succeeded if not for Junhyung being, well, Junhyung.
"So I get the silent treatment now? That doesn't really work on me. You should think of a better strategy to make me stop going after you."
"I don't need you to walk me home." He zips his bag and slings it across his shoulders. He begins to walk away when Junhyung holds his arm and pulls him back. Junhyung's mouth is near his ears again. He wills himself to calm down. But Junhyung's voice and his words just have something about them.
"I told you. No matter what, I'm not giving up."
This person's stubbornness gets on his nerves. But he's more stubborn than Junhyung so he shakes his head. He turns to face Junhyung and with a smirk to irritate Junhyung, says, "I'll make you give up."
