Looking, hoping,reaching
For someone, something, someway
Some place, sanctuary
You look at him
you see him
He is drained
He is broken
He is lost
You see through him
You see yourself
His eyes telling you softly
As his voice pleads with you
This will be ok
This will not be awkward
This will not be forced
This will not be painful
This will be what it is
And his heart in all its shattered pieces,
Is pumping whiskey to his veins
And he's laughing as he's crying silently, inside
He is reaching
He is looking
For a comfort,
A moment,
A friend,
a shoulder
You see it
Because you know it
you see it
Because you feel it
Empathy courses through your veins
Like the whiskey moves through him
And your scared for him
You do your best to not regret
But thats just not his style
He convinces you
He coaxes you into believing
This will be ok
This will not be awkward
This will not be forced
This will not be painful
This will be what it is
You will laugh about this in the morning
You will have a story to tell
You will not run from this like every fuck that came before
He needs a shoulder
He needs a friend
He needs a warm place
He needs a home
If only for the night
Considering your history
who are you to hide
This wasn't pity
This wasn't wrong
This was simple empathy
Wrapped in love, just past the hugs
To the left of mainstream friendship
This will be ok
This will not be awkward
This will not be forced
This will not be painful
This will be what it is
