Curry-zy Over Indian Food

Indian food is DELISH! Ahh... (rubs tummy)

To decompress after a stressful two weeks at work and whatnot, I met up with Mikah for dinner at Swagat, an Indian restaurant on Rada Street, Legaspi Village, Makati. It's a quaint, cozy place with an exotic, anachronistic appeal. From a passerby's POV, the restaurant's lettering is akin to that of a black-market pawnshop's.

The Aloo Methi (Potatoes with Fenugreek Leaves) is the bomb! It's the leaves that give it a full, distinctly Indian flavor. I also loved their Vegetarian Samosa. I liked their Chicken Tikka Masala, too, but in my non-expert opinion, New Bombay's is somewhat tastier. Good thing I decided to order plain rice so I could savor the flavor of the dishes.

We requested the spicy version and I wasn't even halfway through the meal when I almost raised the white flag. And I have a high tolerance for spicy food! Mikah said the spicy dish wasn't usually like that. For some reason, the cook decided to take it up a notch that we had to give our palates a rest a couple of times over the course of dinner, appeasing it with tiny sips of water every now and then. My face was burning and the periphery of my lips was tingling. But I guess that's where the fun lies. It's all part of your exciting Indian feast.
