Driving Myself Crazy

Mar 30, 2008 03:37

After almost four years of not driving, I was forced behind the wheel when my brother got confined in the hospital (due to severe asthma) and I had to be the errand girl and family driver. But before settling in that role, I had to do two practice rounds--one just within the neighborhood and the other a brief drive on EDSA--just so I could get the feel of the wheel again. After that I was ready to venture into back and forth trips to the hospital. I'm amazed at how much muscle memory and instinctive driving is. I wasn't nervous at all and the engine didn't even die on me! ;) I missed driving. But I didn't miss road traffic at all. :p

Shey's birthday party last night was wet, wet, wet! Well, what would you expect from an inflatable-pool party? I wasn't planning on joining the wetness but Kathy G., in alcohol-fueled determination, dragged me to the pool. Ugh. Went home still dripping, my relatively new slip-ons all squishy (a yucky feeling :p). I had to ask for a plastic bag to put on the car seat.

I wasn't planning on getting drunk either. But tequila is such a sneaky bastard. I could've sworn I wasn't at all drunk last night. But when I woke up, my head was spinning, my limbs were tingling, and my heart was racing. And here's the part where I'm supposed to make the worn-out promise of never drinking again.

Awesome party last night, Shey! And thanks to the Yale residents for their hospitality! :D I discovered a penchant for grilling. Haha.

I've always hated hospitals. They depress and scare me. Good thing my brother got out yesterday. And now life can go back to normal. I was snapped out of my routine and it left me feeling out of sorts. It's probably the whole experience; like I said, I never did like hospitals. And I still have to get some decent rest. Alas, it's not going to happen this weekend. Tonight is my uncle's birthday celebration, and because the hubby and I have missed all the other family occasions, we have to attend this one. At least it's a good opportunity to catch up with my cousins.

Thinking of watching Toto on Thursday. We have no tickets yet but we'll see if we could score cheap ones at the venue on the day itself. Hehe. If not, that's okay. We aren't really dead set on watching, anyway. But it would be one helluva a musical experience, what with all those great musicians showing off their chops!

What's the best cure for a hangover?

I do know the best way to prevent it: abstain from alcohol. Easier said than done. :p

music, alcohol, party
