Surreal

At the end of June, Diego and I went to the wedding of my friend Sarah from New Jersey. Sarah and I knew each other through school and friends and Girl Scouts but sort of fell out of touch after I moved. She went to college at Northwestern, which is in a northern Chicago suburb, eerily close to where my internship is this summer. So, why not go?

It was sort of surreal to see her and some other N.J. people after so many years. Plus it sort of drove home the fact that we're at "that age" now. It was a lovely ceremony and reception, the food was good and the open bar was especially nice. Evanston is a really swanky suburb.

Other than that, not a whole lot has changed. Work is work. We've done some traveling to rural Illinois and Wisconsin, and it's nice to get out of the city (and the routine) once in a while. Mostly, people just keep stealing our newspaper in the mornings. Just because it's hard to wake up before 11 doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to read the paper like everyone else. Plus, it's boldly marked with the apartment number. Hooligans.

In other news, I came across this terrible headline on the cover of the entertainment section a few days ago:

Ugh. Come on, people.
