Yesterday brought the news of a bomb threat in the subway system. Supposedly, the police were searching everything, including strollers, although I never noticed any increased police presence. I saw lots of amusing newspaper headlines today though. My favourite one was "BOMBS IN STROLLERS!".
Work has been going well. My supervisor seems to be really happy with my work and joked that he wanted to hire me before I graduate. So, it looks like I have a good chance of getting a full-time offer here. That is if I can get through the full-time interview at the end of the term, which is supposed to be pretty tough.
A couple of weekends ago, I got to see legendary game designer
Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario, Zelda, etc). He was signing autographs inside the Nintendo Store. There was almost no way to get inside the store though, because the crowd of Nintendo fanboys was gigantic. It was quite an amusing crowd. I saw lots of people carrying around old NES games and systems.
That same weekend, there was a one-mile race happening on Fifth Avenue. I got a picture of the
woman's race just before they started, and just
as they started, although it's a little blurry.
The
skating rink is now open at Rockefeller Center, even though it is still over-20 degree weather every day. My parents are visiting this weekend and they brought my skates with them, so I hope to do some skating within the coming weeks.
Last weekend, I was in Allentown, Pennsylvania at a church retreat. It was so nice to get out of the city and see real nature again. Sunday was spent at an amusement park, called Dorney Park, screaming my head off on giant roller coasters which is always a lot of fun. Sadly, I have no pictures of that day.
A bunch of Waterloo co-ops here often get together once a week for a poker game. I made it out for the first time last week, and did surprisingly well considering it was the first time I had ever played a real poker game. I ended up making $30.
