This is an end-of-the-year post in which I review my previous goals, talk briefly about music and maybe etcetera. It might be very dull!
My goals for 2009 were these:
1. Pass all my university units
Done!
2. Run a half marathon in under two hours and five minutes
Are you serious? I was too busy to run for fifteen minutes.
3. Get a job
Done. Does is count if I only got the job in November and the job doesn't actually start until 2010? Anyway I got a job at the Curtin library. Maybe I will never have to work in hospitality again.
4. Make a goal in floorball.
Done! Although I am still a bit a n00b at floorball offense.
5. Find an Indonesian conversation partner.
Not done, although since I switched to Chinese it's not as important.
Next year is similar. I want to get over 75% on all my units. Running a half marathon would be nice but I will settle for 'keeping up with running'. I want to make more Chinese friends who are willing to put up with my rudimentary Chinese. I want to change my hair colour.
I have listened to enough new music this year that I think I can come up with a list of my five favourite albums/EPs:
Micachu- Jewellery
Hudson Mohawke- Polyfolk Dance
Yo La Tengo- Popular Songs
The Mountain Goats- The Life of the World to Come
Osso & Sufjan Stevens- Run Rabbit Run
I think if I added many more albums than that the list would turn from a list of favourites to just a list of stuff I've heard.
This year I have learned some valuable lessons for instance:
If you accidentally talk to people like they are toddlers instead of grownups they are usually not offended. In fact they often become more responsive.
