Remiss

I have been most tardy in updating this mediocrity fest, so let me fill you in on what's been going on chez-shocked. I have just returned from Limerick, where I had a delightful weekend of DVDs, BBQ, drunkenness, dancing, Karting, more DVDs and then the misery of 7 hours home on Bus Eireann on Tuesday. So last weekend my friend (another yank) and I rented a car and drove down to Kilkenny to see the comedy festival though we only had tickets for one show. We spent the night in a field and the next day were sick of the crowds in Kilkenny, so we take off. We hit Cashel and Tipperary and say, "hey, we've never been to Limerick, let's check it out and stay the night there." So we arrive in Limerick and the first thing we really see is a sign for DANCING BINGO and we're all like, "Hott, this place rocks." And then we go into the, uh, 'downtown' area and we park and eat at this place and after 15 minutes we both kinda go, "dude, I don't like Limerick at all" so we take off and spend the night in Galway. Limerick is the first of all Irish cities to remind me of Detroit, take that for what you will. I was sad, as I had always hoped to like Limerick. Huh ( ... )

I must say I quite like Limerick. But it's probably more that I have lots of good friends there really.

[insert profound comment about the importance of friends for a fulfilled life here]

In any case, Galway will always beat it hands down.

I decided to look at Bus Eireann from a foreigners perspective while whiling away the hours, and decided it is at least mostly punctual (allowing for traffic),if a little short on information, like where the hell you are. But in general it stinks.
