after chatting with a woman who works where i am interning, she said to me, "yours is the most fascinating family i've heard of in my eight years of working here." though she certainly didn't lace her comment with any form of disgust, disapproval, or disdain, it bothered me a bit, insomuch as i've never considered my family to be anything fascinating. and i've told this story to my NBFFs (new best friends forever) and a few others, so i should make it clear to others.
my brother is seriously pursuing joining the jesuits.
my father is seriously pursuing the priesthood.
my sister is living in japan for several years. she has also somehow started dating a guy from NE Ohio.
my mom is an empty-nester, living at home with nelly, the dog. (ok, she's the most normal out of all of us.)
and if only the lady at the office new i am gay - that would just complete the picture for her.
so there's my life. i don't think it's fascinating, but you should all know those facts so that you're not surprised if i casually mention something related to them in the future.
happy post-valentines day to all. we've survived another year. and in 12 hours, i will be off to south carolina.
a light just burnt out in my bedroom.
