Oh my, what a great way to come back to Cleveland!
I saw Katie McG in the lobby, which guaranteed a wonderful time. Simply guaranteed it.
And I have to say, this is by far the best production that I have ever seen at Near West Theater. It beats out Oklahoma! sheerly for it, well, not being Oklahoma! (that was a wonderful show too, don't get me wrong. I did see it thrice, without complaint!). Andrew, Molly, Sara - you performed so well, and nailed those characters and their vocals. It was really spectacular to see you all animate rolls that, in all honesty, weren't funny personifications like in the past. These were real people, and you brought them to life.
And the dancing - oh that dancing! Catie, I think I had the most fun watching you, in the flurry of colors that was your ever entertaining ensemble of outfits. Oh, oh, how I missed thee and thy humorous ways!
Ah that chorus - what wonder and awe. Monique, Katie, Catie, and everyone did such a great job. As mentioned, the dancing. The singing was also great, particularly because I think I understood nearly all the words that anyone sang during any part of the show. You all must have worked so hard on this. I hope the cast party was fun and worth it, because you all deserve a great bowl of ice cubes filled with your preferred beverage, be that as it may!
As for that Roger person, I can't say I've ever seen him do such a strong job acting. Seriously, congratulations - I felt like you cared about this character and made him into someone who was more than just a comical spectacle. It was great, and you deserve and ovation for that.
Mike, Queesh, or whomever you're feeling today: Graduation, Near West, your special concert coming up - whatever it is, bravo a millions times over! I'm sorry I didn't get to tell you that in person, as set strike began and I left before really seeing everyone.
Again, a splendid job. I'm really grateful for having made this last performance of the show. I can't imagine how I would have missed it otherwise. It was marvelous. The best. No kidding. All my love. To you all.
