The Love in "Kimi wa Petto"

"Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who could not shed tears. Although she was extremely beautiful and intelligent, she could not express her emotions so she lived alone in her castle. One day, she found a cardboard box with a dog inside on the way home. The dog was actually a human, but so happy was he to be rescued by the princess that he decided to remain a dog and stay by her side in the lonely castle…At first he was planning on going home right away, but before he knew it, he had come to like the castle. Why? Because the princess who could shed no tears would shed beautiful tears in front of the dog…But right after that there appeared a handsome prince before the princess. the dog was slightly shocked at the princess’ behavior once the prince arrived, but he knew that as long as he stayed and acted the part of a dog the princess would treasure him. So he decided to continue being a dog for a while longer…Until, one day, the prince finally proposed to the princess. The dog knew he had to leave the castle and his beautiful princess. And as he thought this, he began to wish, ‘if only I was a real dog, then I could have always stayed by her side.’ And he realized at the very end that this feeling he had for the princess…was love"

This is the fairy tale the dog Momo tells Sumire in the last episode of the drama "You're my pet" based on japanese manga of the same name "Kimi wa petto".

The manga(and then anime, and after that the drama) is really a masterpiece, in my opinion.

The idea behind the story is unique.
At first sight it might seem a strange and eccentric plot, but in fact the story is soaked with sweetness, romance, intelligence and elegance.

I  deeply like the fine love relationship between Momo(dog) and Sumire(the protagonist).
I appreciate the elegance in the development of the plot; the intelligence of Momo in finding the right balance between being a dog and reminding his master that he will always be a human being, after all; Sumire's acumen in being honest enough to admit her feelings.

The caresses, their confessions, the silences, the devotion in their relationship really get my heart warmed everytime I watch/think of them.

All this is really rare. Maybe impossible in real life. Maybe it's really too eccentric in a real life.
But it's beautiful, and sweet, and romantic.

The way  Sumire opens his heart to Momo, and the way Momo accepts that "cold"(only in appearance) woman as she is...well that's too rare and too beautiful.

Yes, I can say that -for me- relationship in "Kimi wa Petto" can be called Love, for real.

myself, drama, me, kimi wa petto, matsumoto jun, arashi, , you're my pet, koyuki
