As some of you know, I have a rather low energy level, and always seem to be tired. Needless to say, this has made life rather frustrating, as I feel that there is so much more that I could accomplish if I just had the energy to do it. I've had blood tests, etc. and they can't find any reason for my low energy levels.
After reading that one possible side effect of a gluten sensitivity is fatigue, I decided to go on a "no gluten, no lactose, no refined sugar" diet (might as well give up everything nice at once), to see if that helped. By June 1st, I had used up all of my old food, and started eating just fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, eggs and nuts.
After almost 3 weeks, I've noticed absolutely *no* improvement. I think I can rule out those three possibly allergens as the cause, and conclude that it's probably not related to my diet. The only change that I noticed was that I was grumpy, as I couldn't put cheese on anything! So, as of today, I've gone back to my old eating habits (which were fairly healthy anyways, but usually included a generous pile of cheese on top of things).
I've found that the whole "gluten free" thing is a big scam -- products such as bread are twice the price for half the size of a regular loaf. Companies who make gluten-free products sure must make a lot of profit, as they seem to be gouging the consumer heavily. Fortunately, I don't have an allergy to it, so now I can avoid spending four times as much for products which don't really taste all that good.
Still, it's good to be able to rule out one possible cause of my problems. A few years ago, I tried polyphasic sleep (which promises more free time by sleeping less), and found that it didn't help either.
